Oh dear. He will turn upcoming stars into spuds within a year. He has introduced mediocrity into every club he has ever been involved in

15 Sunday, July 8 Gold Coast SUNS Metricon Stadium Away 3:15pm

21 Friday, August 17 St. Kilda Etihad Stadium Home 7:50pm
22 Sunday, August 26 Western Bulldogs Simonds Stadium Home 1:10pm
23 TBC Sydney Swans Simonds Stadium Home TBC

Not as bad as last year's draw although surprise surprise both matches against Collingwood we are coming off an interstate trip and a six day break, although Collingwood are also coming back from interstate in the first clash (not sure about the break though). We also are coming off an interstate trip when we play Hawthorn but seeing as it is a Geelong home game on Easter Monday we can't complain about that, that one is key for our financial season.

We've got some big ticket home games and seven matches (instead of the requested eight) at the newly named Simmonds Stadium. We have a reasonably tough start, two against Hawthorn and Collingwood (who also play each other twice this year) and a challenging run home. Geelong have 16 FTA games this year which is great for the exposure of the club even though I can't stand thickhead Taylor.

All in a all a challenging draw but this is what you expect as reigning premier. I note this year that Collingwood and Hawthorn have challenging draws also so it is clear that the AFL is doing all it can to minimise the 20 goal blowouts that happened from time to time last year. I'm not sure how Adelaide gets a better run than the Giants though, although GWS can hardly play themselves I suppose.

Well done Brad on a great career. Having played footy with him at school, it was clear he was always going to play at a higher level than the rest of us. Whilst he was very tall at that age, he was not uncoordinated like a lot of "tall/big" kids were. He played like most of our onballers with plenty of skill.
Well done! =D>

I was hoping he could do a Mooney next year but Otto did well to finish off in style when I thought he was done at the end of last year. Thanks for the memories big Otto! The time for Dawson Simpson has come.

Vardy is going in for more hip surgery, not sure when he'll be right...

With West and Hawkins, Simpson wouldn't get much of a gig, but we'll ease him into it... :D

You're on drugs. No way do we want Hawkins in Ruck when he's finally plucking the aggot. The time for Simpson has come. He's big, he's mobile and he's 23. Ease him in to it? He's ready.

Seem to be struggling with the ruck side of things lately MP.

Hawkins is a CHF who is finally playing to his potential and if he marks the footy in the H & A season like he did in the Grand Final this year look out.

Ruck- No thanks!

Hawkins should be staying in the foward line, dont bring him up into the Ruck. He turned the GF on its head with his marking and would have taken home Norm if he kicked straight.

As for the ruck, Simpson and Vardy is imposing, there young but big mobile lads and will give you a fair crack around the ground. Not a bad replacement for Ottens in my opinion.

Anyway well done to Ottens on a great career, 245 games, 3 flags. Not bad, not bad at all.

So that makes Milburn, Ling, Ottens and Mooney that have retired from the cats now. 4 decent losses there in terms of experiance. It will be interesting to see how you guys recover. In my opinion you will still be up there and very hard to beat. At this stage I would still have you guys in my prediction for the top 4.

Considering only two of them actually played in the GF team, they're going pretty well I reckon.
Like you say, they'll definitely be around the mark again.

Yeah good point. I guess Ling and Ottens are the only real losses from the GF side. Which is not bad considering that they already have a replacement for ottens in Simpson.
I would still have then looking like a top 4 or even top 2 contender for next season.
