I reckon there's a fair chance he may finish up at the Crows in a multi club deal involving Gunston or Maric, maybe with picks involved as well.

As a Port supporter though I hope we get him (without having to give up pick 6).

thats true. The crows could be big players in this. He has only siad his preferred club is the Power, but simply wants to return home to the state. Thats my understanding.

Pick 6 would be fair though and i dont think hte power will risk losing him in the preseason draft

3 way deal involving Gunston on the cards I reckon, unless the Power part with their first pick which is highly unlikely.

As stated above, Ebert is a reasonable player but not worth the Power giving up their priority pick for, if he was in West Coasts top 18 players then maybe, but I think Ebert is struggling to hold his position at West Coast and that is the real reason why he wishes to come home to SA. Clearly because his surname is Ebert may well pull at the heart strings of some of thier supoorters but the modern game is somewhat different.

If Ebert is really worth the first round pick, then would the Power be prepared to trade Butcher for him? I highly doubt it, is Butcher a better prospect than the lad they potentially get at their first pick?

Brad Ebert played 22 of 25 games this season and he is not considered as first choice :? Jeez all the blokes playing the same position as him must have been injured every week for him to play most games.

also can someone post where Brad requests Port Adelaide as his preferred choice???? I can only find reference to his wish to return to South Australia and no club is mentioned :?

The Adelaide football club have better facilities. Better list, better bartering position but port have the family history. I wonder what will win out

Ebert and pick 23 for pick 6 may do it. Port would be happy to throw in any WA player that West Coast would want, although unlikely Surjan, Motlop or Pettigrew would interest them.

There is no way port is giving up pick 6. The last 4 years clubs have got
Reece conca
Gary Rohan
Chris yarran
Jarred grant
Your not going to give up the opportunity to draft one of those 4 for brad

Port should move heaven and earth to get him, its very rare a player wants to play in South Australia, normally the opposite. Gotta grab the rare one while they can.

Yeah it is fairly rare. But the players who have come back have made huge impacts. Just off my head wanganeen come back and kicked two important goals to get port in the 04 granny. Darren jarman doesn't need anyone to say what he did. Scotty Thompson has been a gun midfielder, and sauce Jacobs looks like he could be a very good ruckman. Lets hope Brett can have the same impact

Depends on his reasons. Is he looking for more opportunities or is he simply homesick and that's it. Right now Port Adelaide present him with better opportunities than the top 4 Eagles where he doesn't seem to be in Worsfold's favourite players list.

I agree with Wedgie - Port should do whatever they can to get him. A new club may be just what he needs.

It's possible that Woosha has sat him down and given him some home truths about where he is at with the Eagles and they have decided that it is best for both parties to work a trade. Rather than air all that dirty laundry Ebert simply comes out and says he wants to come home.

Dunno, just a theory.

Don't think this will be the case.

I just think it is a player who wants a decent crack in the midfield for a longer period of time. He was very good mates with Schuey, Selwood and co so don't think its homesickness.

Saying that it is disappointing to lose him, we put 70 games into him and developed and he is starting to show some real improvement in his game.

Wont get pick 6 for him thats a certainty, I think Surjan and Ports 2nd pick or an upgrade of picks somehow is what will be offered. No interest whatsoever in Pettigrew or Motlop

Agree with you there that I'm also dissapointed that he wants to leave. But you know it happens. I still think he has a place in our best 22. But if he wants out then thats what we need to deal with.

I would suggest that Surjan and Ports second round pick would be a start. I think Surjan if we can get him fit can provide some value for us. As much as I would like to think we could get Ports pick 6, I highly doubt that. But in saying that I wouldnt mind looking at Adelaides pick 10 instead.

Played against Collingwood in the first week. Had a poor one and lost his spot when Kerr returned. When playing well he makes their best 22 ahead of McGinnity.
