don't get too excited about Bickley. Didn't Primus do a reasonable job when he took over last year?

Good point ---- but I think there might be a difference.
Primus got "reasonable" results, but I have a very good feeling about Bickley's approach. I wouldn't call him the Messiah (actually only one man in history should have that title anyway), but I'm prepared to give him the chance.
Please Crows, don't pick Eade or Bailey --- if that happens I'm going to puke. We want winners.

Agreed. Blight is the only one worthy.

I was going to say the exact thing.

Crows are in a better spot, ageing stars are gone! Also Bicks wont smash the senior players confidence like Primus did this year

Since you mentioned Blight......

If you're interested to know about non-premiership coaches getting gigs at new clubs and winning a flag, Blight is the last one to do it, and he did get into 4 GFs before his appointment to the Crows.

Stats in recent years suggest that premiership coaches have either done it before at other clubs (Malthouse, Matthews) or they are coaches appointed to a senior role for the first time (Thompson, Clarkson, Roos, Worsfold etc).

This may not help Eade's cause given he's had 2 stints over many years and made 1 GF.

Bicks is a great week to week coach but if you put him on a 3 year deal what will he produce he hasnt shown anything classed as AFL coaching material in his 3 weeks, the players have come out said he has giving them freedom to run and take risks and also building them up with confidence to me we could put a local Under 8 coach in to do that, I can't see him having out standing structure work or anything to blow other teams out the water.

2 options-
Rodney Eade as Senior Coach, have a clean out and bring his own Asst in
Or
Mark Bickley Senior Coach, Rodney Eade as his Assistant in a role Mark Thompson is to Hird.

All other coaches that may be up for grabs will most likely go for Melbourne job or go and be an assistant else where. Not many Melbourne coaches will want to head to Adelaide after Ayres words with the media the other day

In fairness, the coach cant come in and change complete game structures that they have been working on all pre season, no matter if they re right or wrong. But there is no doubt, minor adjustments to the game plan but he instills believe in the players to take the game on. Simple message, yes! but cant change things over night!

The structures and disciplines are in place, only minor changes need to take place and the return of the competative mindset/output from the players.

Bickley struggles to string sentences together in press conferences, not sure how he'll go coaching an AFL club full-time.

Everyone is potting Eade, but he turned Sydney around in a short period of time and took them to a GF (losing to the most dominant club of the 90s), and took the Bulldogs from absolute crap to three prelims in a row. No flags, but a bounce of a ball or a little bit of luck his way and he very well could have. Not sure how many other available coaches out there have a record of taking teams from the bottom up to the top end of the ladder like he has.

The Crows should be doing everything they can to get him, IMO.

I strongly doubt Adelaide will go for Eade after previously rejecting him and the fact that he didn't make a GF with the Bulldogs.
I reckon Eade is far more likely to go to Melbourne.

The Dogs may go for someone like Brian Royal or another long term assistant (e.g. Sanderson)

Bickley hasn't done much wrong so far, but his is probably still too green for the club to appoint him for 2012.
Neeld seems to be shaping as strong contender, but it's very speculative at present.

Sacking Eade is just a ploy to help the team get a win this week against highly rated opposition

The trend these days is that once one team announces their coach is gone before the season is out any other team planning a change is forced into announcing theirs so they don't lose too much ground in the search for their new coach. So we get this rush of early terminations.

Fair dinkum Eade is the most overrated coach going around. It was Barrassi who turned Sydney around and Eade filled Wallace's shoes at the Bulldogs so hardly big ones to fill there. All these years coaching and ONE Grand Final to show for it and you want him at West Lakes?

Bickley is experiencing the "Primus Syndrome" a soft draw to finish the season, which they will win games and inturn lure the fans and coaching comittee into an appointment. I hope it works

Is Adelaides next coach likely to be a premiership coach? i very much doubt it so what would be wrong with Eade for 3-4 years and by then Bickley or Goodwin will be ready. I think to much emphasis is placed on wether the guy can be a premiership coach when in reality a guy can perform a role to get you to the stage where you can challenge fpr a premiership

True, although you could argue figjam is in the same league as he will replace possibly the premiership coach from the past 2 years when he takes over. Faark, he must be good.
