I agree (although I still wonder whether it's Primus' call) .. All about getting to Adelaide Oval in reasonable shape - If the change of venues doesn't work for them, they are in real strife so IMHO it's all geared toward making that a success.

Was on Hodge in the first half and he didn't make Hawthorn's best players. Went to Mitchell who carved up in the first half and kept him to 3-4 touches in the third. Not sure about the last. Would have been 18 worse players than him, for sure.

There's a few factors I think.

I think list management/poor drafting is the major one, going back to Allan Stewart's days as recruiter. The club should have gone for youth after the 04 premiership but went for middle aged players such as Lonie and Walsh. Not having great draft picks hasn't helped, but for the picks the club has had there's been way too many misses than the club would have liked.

Lack of money in the football department hasn't helped either.

Just poor all round really.

Yes exactly, why ain't Chaplin dropped to the SANFL? Why does Butcher get a game when he can't get a kick in the SANFL?

Hey NM,
long time, no chat, agree on Chaplin, agree on Butcher, Proably 2-3 weeks to early in an ideal world. As you would know, a lot of it has to do with opportunity at SANFL level. But I thought he did oK today. He presents well. Jonas was solid against the odds

Turn the lights out on the way out please Port, a side from Two Wells would do South Australia prouder.

And as a Geelong supporters and a South Australian I sincerely apologise for the mess we've made of the Power with our 2007 GF win.

I'll chime in here. North has rebuilt themselves as a club after being on the scape heap and seriously ******! Thats what they have done and you right they havent won any flags but christ almost going under and coming back from the Brink is a shit load more than what the crows have done in the last 10 years. Oh wait I forgot you guys made the finals a few times. brillant.

As for Port they are crap at the moment and the Hawks are good. Very simply put really. 165 points means you need to have a good hard look at your list.

Premiers in 2004 and bottom in 2011, thats how the wheels in the competition turns.

Clubs like Richmond and Melbourne have seen themselves on the bottom of the ladder copping a hiding from week to week in recent times.

Yep, the end of 2011 cant come quick enough for this group and I think your comments are pretty close to the mark JK, just giving players a game for the sake of it, when as No Mercy stated they clearly have not earnt it must send some mixed messages to the group.

With the input of AFL $, another pre-season into some players and beffed up football department to give Primus some additional assistance I look forward to 2012, pity 2011 still has some games left in it.

Why do you care about how SA football is represented in the AFL Wedgie, you follow a Victorian team in a national competition and dont go to the SANFL owned Footy Park at any stage?

Interesting to see the crowd yesterday...

Boon mate, Trust me I know the feeling, couldnt wait for the end of last year. But things will turn, Goraw probably doesnt think so, but I think the drugs and booze are finally getting tonhim.
Still with an increased in spending in the football department and players with another preseason under there belts you guys will start to turn it around.

Bit of a catch 22 though isnt it, if we only played players who had earnt the right then we'd be fielding a team of four or five. At some point you have to say "**** this shit" we either need to play senior players who are crap and have continously let us down for an extended period or play youngsters who havent earnt the right but are the future of the club. Not an ideal situation to gift players a game i agree, but out of the 2 choices it's the one i'd prefer.

Most filters are American and therefore filter out normal English words like the alternative name for a donkey - ass - and the name for a female dog - bitch.
This one is doing better than that.

Because the SANFL as a whole would be stronger if better organisation was given the 2nd AFL Adelaide license. I also help run a football site in which I promote talk about football!

I'll be there today in a corporate box for the 2nd half and I was at the Power v Fremantle game earlier this year! :D
But I'm only going today to get a lift home which allows me to drink at Alberton and the fact its a free ticket. ;)

Back to the game, I'd have to say Port Adelaide are clearly the worst side I've ever seen in the VFL/AFL in my lifetime. I've never seen a team with such lack of heart and lack of interest.
Can we measure where Hawthorn are as a team this year from it at all?

In 1997, which football organisation, based in SA, was better placed to be given the second licence considering a composite side was already in the competition?

You must not watch that much football as Fitzroy in the early 90's, Brisbane in the same period, Fremantle during the early 2000's and Melbourne three years ago were no better or worse than Port. Confidence is no existant at Alberton at the moment and the players are looking for the end of the year. Not a good look and our results are showing it.

Problem is we cant delist 15 players at years end and it will take Matty at least 3 years to turn over the squad he inherited from the previous coach.

Williams was sacked, why wasn't our recruiting department?

Peter Rohde, your time is up.

I assume you're asking me since you quoted me, I think a 2nd composite side similar to the Crows and West Coast and Fremantle should have been implemented. IMHO if marketed correctly they would have had more success, bigger crowds, higher ratings and provided a lot more money for the SANFL.
Oh and if Port did have to be admitted I would have called them the Pirates!
It would be cool to be able to dress up like a pirate and shout out pirate sayings!

Can we talk about the game now please? :D
I see clubs Daniel Healey's at continue to thrive!
And Boon, I bet you're glad that
the Hawks have the killer instinct that Collingwood and Geelong do
