Chad Cornes

Talk on the national game

Plain & simple. He still has AFL currency. Get injured & it's over. Together with his management the decision was made to have one more crack at it. He'll be in the grey & orange in 2012.
I'm sure every single professional athlete offered the same opportunity would do exactly the same.
Chad loves the GFC but it's not in the SANFL that his immediate future lies.

Hasn't done himself any favours by speaking out of school on the weekend.

Yes, probably didn't need to say what he sad publicly, not sure brother Kane and Mr Motlop would have wanted all that said on radio as well.

Didn't help himself or his brother with his outburst. For a guy who was supposed to be a club man, he's come out and used inside information to burn the club. I'll never understand why former players do that. Fair enough some internal workings are ok to make public some time later, but if all you're trying to do is hurt the club or the people involved in it then you're not much of a club or team man anymore IMHO.

Its whats known as telling the truth. Certainly wont have hurt Kane at all.
Rather than let a club taint a player and constantly tell blatant lies... Chad told it as it was.

According to one person it's the truth, according to everyone actually involved it's not. If Kane has an issue with it then Kane should be the one to speak on his own behalf, not Chad.

He "owes" them nothing?

We finished 16th with 3 wins, the club has clearly taken the step of playing youth to :

1 - See if they are up to it
2 - Develop them if they are
3 - Identify that they aren't and decide what to do with them ( trade {if they can} or delist )

Chad, albeit unlucky to not have played more this year, is not part of our future and I see the club having made the right decision. To say he owes the club nothing is bulltish, he owes them at very least the respect of not talking out of school hours before the final round of the season and, and I might add from a vantage point few others have in relation to Kane and how he is being handled.

Poor form by the Chad. That yellow stripe down his belly showing out now that he has nothing to do with himself. ;)

Why is there this idea that clubs owe players more than players owe clubs? Port didn't have to pick him in the draft, put time into his development as a player and pick him time and time again. He was able to have a highly paid, extremely enjoyable profession for many years and now has a probable future within the game because of the opportunities the club gave him. Now the club are in a tough position, doing their best to sort it out and he decides to sink the boot in. Does he not realise why guys like Robran and Ebert are still so highly respected? It's one thing to be a great player, it's another to be a great former champion.

Good guess, been all over the media for three days now ( at least ).

Play a season or two, get a strength and conditioning role. Why not.
