Yep. That one was soft too. In both cases, medical reports from opposition medical staff used in evidence.

Both Trengove and Richards are contesting their suspensions.

Montagna cited and suspended for 1 week for his bump on the injured Curnow.

I dont mind this suspension at all. Its weak as water to bump somone that is injured. He hadnt been off and come back on, he was going off to get medical attention! When he came back on i have no problem with players 'testing' it out....

I reckon that's right too FS, well said.

I don't have a problem with players crossing the line if that's what it takes either (old fashioned perhaps), but you gotta expect to pay the price for doing so.

:? I'm pretty sure he had already been off the ground and had infact come back on. Montagna actually bumped his "good" shoulder.

theres a worst decision than this one, Montagna got a one game ban for Bumping Ed Curnow when he was clutching his Shoulder, i thought if there is no Trainer around its fair Game.

The melee happened at 1/4 or 1/2 time. Curnow had both shoulders strapped when Montagna "bumped" him. He started the game with only the left shoulder strapped.

I thought he bumped him earlier, before the melee, when Curnow had made a beeline for the bench?

Not sure. Montagna bumping him definately led to the start of the melee. This is what I'm assuming he is reported for?

Montagna's bump did come before he had gone off the ground for his injury, to his injured shoulder. There wasn't a trainer present - yet, but he was clearly injured and clearly not active in the play nor was be moving into a position that he would be able to effect the course of the game - he had his back to the play. I think the suspension is completely warranted - you clearly saw Montagna change course of direction to bump his shoulder that he was grasping. Very poor effort in my book - would you accept someone bumping a player with a serious head or leg injury... with this in mind if an injured player comes back on the he is fair game.

My understanding is that Curnow was injured on the far side of the ground .. Pretty much straight away took off for the interchange gate clearly injured and that was when Montagna tested him out.

What LM did wasn't anything earth-shattering, but if it happened as I thought then I think the suspension is probably fair .. As FS said, if he gets smashed as soon as he comes back onto the ground then that's no worries, certainly fair game then.

I mustn't have seen that. I only saw the bump that started the melee. I will happily concede and put my hand up that I am wrong if we are talking about different timeframes. 8)

Montagna tried him out as he was coming off the ground, Koshitske bumped him at quarter time which led to Setanta coming in and then the all in....

I'm just glad Curnow sat on the bench and remained composed unlike sooky sooky Riiiiiiiieeeeeeeeevoldt.
