Not the worst comparison I've heard. He did some very impressive things on Friday, some really smart, quick thinking plays.

Jacobs has done his hammy:

Highly unlikely he'll line up in R1 now, even if he is fit again by then.

McKernan goes up the order again IMO. Firming as a nice ruck/forward 'sub' or bench player I reckon.

FB: Johncock, Rutten, Stevens
CHB: Martin, Davis, van Berlo
C: Mackay, Vince, Douglas
CHF: Reilly, Henderson, Dangerfield
FF: Callinan, Tippett, Walker
1R: Jacobs, Porplyzia, Thompson
INT: Sloane, Doughty, Petrenko (McKernan)

EMG: Knights, Symes, Smith

* If fit, Knights replaces Petrenko.

Jaensch, Gunston, Cook, Maric, Otten not even in the above squad. Incredible. This should be a fine year.

There is no way Porps is in the first ruck and Otten isnt in the team. Esspecially with petrenko in there! VB will play on ball also

Henderson cant hold down CHF. Porp will only be used through the centre once the sub has been used IMO. Smith, Stevens, Martin, Jaensch unlucky. Sellar, Tambling and Moran need to start year in SANFL, assuming Jacobs still injured.

I'd like the team to look like this:

Otten Rutten Doughty
Johncock Davis Symes
McKay van Berlo Vince
Knights Walker Henderson
Porp Tippett McKernan
1R Maric Douglas Thompson
Int Reily Dangerfield Sloane (Callinan)
Pat Malone

I think your pretty spot on PM!

My only thought is i think they will play Stevens infront of symes as that 3rd tall (Franklin, Roughead, Hale)

Emergancies would be: Smith, Symes, Martin, Jaensch

Whose missing from this team? Can't see the team getting much stronger then this!

If we're picking on ability am I the only one who thinks Brent Reilly is far from being a certainty in this team?

I had my first go at picking a team last week, and looking at it a few days later revealed I'd overlooked both Reilly and Knights in favour of Sloane and Otten...
It is not going to be easy, which is why I haven't put a version up here yet.
I'd tend to favour moving Tippet out to CHF - I don't know where he was named against Freo - only that he was described as playing "up the field" more in the reports.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Great position to be in considering where we were this time last year. with the youngs guys starting to lift and push for a spot, i (IMO only) think that the rd 1 team might not be filled with the "automatic" starters that have been there in previous years.

Just caught the end of an injury update from Crows game. I'm sure I heard David King (3AW) say Brodie Martin has done an ACL, can anyone confirm this?

It wouldn't be an Adelaide pre-season without a heap of injuries. I regret getting excited about how well we were travelling too.

I'm sick of this. Every single year, it's so draining.

Freaking sucks.

wouldn't be too worried just yet, both Brodie and Ian were 'potentials' really. Key players are all still fit at this stage. Here's hoping Brodie's knee isn't a reco though, was really looking forward to seeing him out on the park this year.
