Well the promotion of Port of late (creed and all that one club stuff) does not bode well for getting memberships or supporters with no affiliation to the puffs. You are annexing any neutral person by constantly drawing on your past history. You have one base to draw from where as the 'team for all south australians' can still draw on those who have no affiliation with port. Worry about your own team and its short comings before getting stuck into Adelaide. End of rant.

My own team has no problems getting membership.
Just having a go at the crows propaganda. Many thousands of us stayed loyal to our VFL sides but must admit i nearly got a crows membership in the early days but something about cornes and all his glenelg boyfriends helped make my mind up.

I could never understand why any South Australian would ever support any VFL side.

Being an 80s baby I was born into the crows.

There was no other team to follow.

Lucky for me the old man grew up in Norwood.
Could have been alot worse...

Yeah you could have followed Port during the 90s, damn that was tough, not winning the premiership in 91, 93 and 97 was too much to take.

Only because they are at least SA based - and my wife had Port connections/sympathies. ;)
When I lived in Victoria I got really sick of the media there always talking up St Kilda or other central Melbourne teams against outsiders - even outsiders like Geelong.
[I was also annoyed with how Sydney instantly became "Souths" again when they were having a good run.]

They are.

Yet you don't get a vote at an A.G.M :? No so sure they are real members .More like peasants.

The Crows have done a couple of things to really piss off the Membership base in the past 12 months. First, they tried the Gold shed Membership, which was a flop and has been scrapped. Now they've spent the past 6 months bugging Members for another $200 for a raffle ticket.

You're right about the rights (or lack thereof) of silver Members. We basically get a reserved seat to 11 games, priority to purchase finals tickets (except the Grand Final), 2 editions of a magazine that is incredibly out of date by the time we actually get it, and yeah well that's about it - all that for $320-odd! You want voting rights, access to the club annual report and a guaranteed GF ticket (if the Crows are playing and most likely the back 4 rows of level Q at the G), then that's another $120 (and if you wanted access to the shed last year it was an further $50).

Compare that to my Centrals season ticket/Membership where I get double the benefits for half the price - and the Members badge Centrals supplies lasts more than 1 game, and the bumper sticker from Centrals lasts longer than 1 week as well!

Maybe if the Adelaide Football Club treated its members as members and not like passengers on a budget airline the retention rates will be higher.

The irony is, the club was aiming for 50000 Members this year. Talk about an epic failure.

Very fair criticism there Brucetiki. Did you feed all that back to the club last year?

This is only my second year as a Silver member so it's all new to me. I hadn't really thought about AGM voting rights etc.

Very valid points.

I see no point because the liklihood is that the club wouldn't take it on board.

Loyalty to the club I followed well before The Crows were born could be one reason. I have one South Australian club I love, STURT! They are well up on the list of my priorities before any AFL side anyway. I stayed loyal to the competition I love also and wouldn't sell myself out to the AFL money making machine anyway so why change who I followed in that comp?

here here, i have a mate who is a mad crows fan and made Central fan. He doenst miss a single Central game and goes to every Crows home game plus a couple away each season.

So one week he is cheering full on for Ken McGregor etc etc and then the next week when Ken McGregor plays against Central his bagging the 5hite out of him.

100% agree.

I cant understand this logic. ie a Norwood fan (not just picking on norwood) that would label Callinan a "sniper" at the parade one week.

But the next week he becomes a hero in a crows guernsey.

WEIRD!!!!

Not much difference to supporters cheering the likes of Aish, McIntosh, Salisbury, Kernahan etc in state games even though they were the enemy most weeks.

Although the state games were more a one-off during the season I guess.

And if anyone wants an easy comparison as to how much better value for money SANFL Membership are in comparison to a Crows silver Membership, here it is:

Silver Membership - $232-$342 (depending on where you sit)
Membership Card
AFC Member’s bumper sticker
Lanyard and ticket wallet
AFC Member’s keyring
Weekly e-mail update
Subscription to The Pride magazine (2 editions, one per household)
2011 Fixture magnet with times (to be mailed with magazine)
10% discount at CROWmania on presentation of your membership card
20% discount on meals at the Checkside Tavern
Free entry to Member’s Day
19th Man Award Voting
Free Transport to AAMI Stadium via metro Footy Express bus services
Priority access to a finals ticket (weeks 1-3) if AFC is competing
Discount on Westpac Centre guided tours

Central District season ticket package - $165
Season Ticket providing admission to all CDFC Home & Away Games
Two tickets to 1 x Adelaide Crows game and Two tickets to 1 x Port Power game at AAMI Stadium
Exclusive CDFC Supporter Scarf
20% discount voucher for all Club Merchandise
Invitation to an exclusive Training night meal with the Players at Grand Central
Membership of the Central District Football Club & Grand Central
Annual Report
2011 Members Badge
2011 Member Bumper Sticker
Member Lanyard & Ticket Wallet
2011 Fixture Fridge Magnet Pad
Supporter Pen
Members Key Ring
Subscription to Weekly E-Newsletter
Members Only Specials during the season at Grand Central (details to be advised)
Voting rights

So you can see that Silver Membership doesn't really provide that much value for money, and the Adelaide Football Club is using non-exclusive benefits such as the Members Day (which I believe is free for everyone Member of not, well at least that was being implied when they were promoting it at the NAB Cup Friday night) and access to the Footy Express (also free to all who have a ticket regardless of whether it's a season ticket or a daily ticket) to fluff out the benefits.

I don't think you can really compare the two. SANFL versus AFL is like comparing Oranges with Apples.

Compare it with membership to another AFL club and there might be something to discuss.
