G Ablett (Bronwlow winner and arguably best in game)
N Bock (Club B+F, All Aus CHB)
M Rischitelli ( Club B+F)
J Fraser
J Brennan
C Brown
J Harbrow

Then add the equivalents of Scully, Trengrove, Martin, etc. We saw the impact top draft picks could have last yr

No doubt will fade come end of yr with rookie burnout

No people aren't forgetting they have some talent on the list, they are rememberin that they have the youngest list in the comp. Let's have a look at the guns.

Ablett: Dead set gun who will play well but won't be afforded the off the ball protection like he got at Geelong.

Bock: A good solid defender to build the defence around. God help the suns if he goes down like he did last year.

Rischitelli: Had his first top season last year and could either kick on or drop back a bit. Hasn't reached the elite yet. FWIW I reckon he can kick on.

Fraser: Never has and never will work hard enough to be an elite player. The Pies retained Cameron Wood over him.

Brennan: Look up the word inconsistency and you'll see a picture of this bloke. Amazing ability but goes missing way too often.

Brown: If the Coast are looking towards this bloke for toughness good luck with that. He was already on the way out at Hawthorn as evidenced by their failed attempt to trade him out to Port the year before.

Harbrow: This guy needs plenty of space but I predict he wil get smashed and be given no room at all. With so many rooks in the team the oppo can pick off the more experienced players.

Thought the agression and intenstity was really good from the GC, you would obviously expecet this from a side playing their first competitive match but they did do that.

Karmichael Hunt was impressive, his attack on the ball and being in front of the man was quality. His 1% was brilliant as well especially laying of shepards after giving out handballs. Still a very loing way to go for him but positive signs.

A bit of a worry is the CHB position, Coad tried really hard last night but got caught out every time the opposition moved the ball with the slightest amount of pace and i wouldnt put Sydney up there as a quick moving side.

Rubbish. Coad did a great job in the game against WC. Held his own against the bigger bodies of Naitanui, Kennedy and Cox.

First side:

B: Seb Tape, Nathan Bock, Campbell Brown
HB: Jarrod Harbrow, Karmichael Hunt, Nathan Krakouer
C: Trent McKenzie, Daniel Harris, Michael Rischitelli
HF: Daniel Stanley, Charlie Dixon, Alik Magin
F: Jared Brennan, Zac Smith, Brandon Matera
Foll: Josh Fraser, David Swallow, Gary Ablett
I/C: Marc Lock, Josh Toy, Harley Bennell, Dion Prestia
Emg: Maverick Weller, Michael Coad, Daniel Gorringe

-KHunt at CHB is very surprising, Coad misses out (emerg).
-Alik Magin was elevated off the rookie list.
-Fraser 1st ruck and Smith at FF
-McKenzie is new to me, haven't seen him mentioned anywhere

Depending on how well their rookies go, this team will be very competitive. Not sure why Coad hasn't been named.

The Power turned up with three newbies last week against the Pies and got pumped. While Carlton aren't Collingwood obviously this Suns team has twelve newbies. Competitive? I'm not so sure about that. If the Blues don't win by at least 45 points then they aren't fair dinkum.

We should win, but not by that much.

The problem is kicking enough goals really. The back line will probably be able to hold its own if the midfield does not get smashed which I dont think it will. You have Bock, Brown, Tape, Krakouer, Harbrow and Hunt thrown in as well. Seems fairly solid, but I still think a decent CHF will be too much for Hunt. Tape will hold his own and Bock is an All Aust backman, Harbrow will find it hard because he will not have much room to move out there.
The Midfield is not bad. Ablett and Rischetelli are good but will be the first players looked at to be shut down. Daneil Harris is a honest players but not a super star (still reckon he'll find some ball), after that it is seriously kids led by the boy who will king in Swallow. Fraser is no slouch in the ruck but has Warnock and Hampson to deal with. Snith is raw as, but hey a big boy is a big boy!.
As I said with the forward line I would think Fraser will spend some time down there, he is better suited to the forwardline role than Smith. Dixon will go alright, hes a third year forward, so hes not as raw as you would expect. But still Brennan will probably get the best defender and I'm not sure how he'll go with that.

My tip Carlton by 40 points.

Fair assessment of the experienced players at Gold Coast. I am a big fan of Campbell Brown, but in the past couple of seasons has been on the cusp of being dropped from the Hawthorn team. He'll give them all he's got, but I just wonder how much he has left.
