really think st kilda will be too classy for collingwood .Jones to shut down Swan but malthouse and collingwood players like didak,thomas,beams wont pay enough respect to hayes montagna goddard and dalsanto who NEED to be tagged and will tear them apart but malthouse too sure of himself and wont swallow his pride and tag these players

Last year I was cocky, confident and yes, a litle bit arrogant. We lost. I was gutted.

This year, I am Passionate, yet uncertain and preparing for the worst.

If we lose, I will be gutted, but a week of steeling myself will soften the blow.

Interesting to see that the AFL are making St Kilda wear there "Clash" guernsey on saturday as apparently the 2 jumpers are simular and as collingwood finished higher on the ladder they get to wear there "home" guernsey. (which is fair enough)

While i dont think the Saints are to happy with this they will just play along and not get distracted.

However, i ask this question, if the Saints had finished higher like last year, would the AFL be making Collingwood wear there "Clash" guernsey and how much kicking and screaming would we have heard, threatening legal action etc from the Pies??

St Kilda chief executive Michael Nettlefold spoke with the league and said that for cultural reasons - not least posterity - it would not sit comfortably with the club or its fans if their drought-breaking moment was to exclude the traditional jumper.

There is a poignant interest in this for the Saints. In 1966, it was not unusual for players in grand finals to swap jumpers afterwards with their opponents. So it is, that in the photographs taken of St Kilda captain Darrel Baldock at the moment of the clubs greatest triumph he is wearing a Collingwood jumper.

"Collingwood has had a standout season, finishing on top of the ladder, so as a consequence they have priority choice of jumper for the grand final," Nettlefold said.

"Therefore, we will be wearing our clash jumper. However, we have been advised by the AFL that in the event we win the match we will be able to change into our traditional Saints jumper for presentation and photographic purposes."

The fact that Collingwood finished above St Kilda in the regular season has spared the AFL a controversy and not a little embarrassment.

According to what Nettlefold was told, had the Saints finished above the Magpies it would have been St Kilda's right to play in their traditional jumper.

But Collingwood do not have a marked alternative to their black and white stripes and, according to president Eddie McGuire, will not entertain the thought of one.

This has led to considerable angst in the past and a degree of bemusement at other clubs where changes have been demanded.
