I caught a grab of Rodney Eade saying something about it hurting the fabric of the club, which I can understand it would. So yep, if they've cautioned him numerous times and it hasn't improved, then yes he's got to go.
No other club will pick him up. 30 odd, dodgy hamstrings and pretty much run out of two clubs, whilst wanting to maintain his salary in the media and a history of saying too much. Zero chance.
But I also agree with previous comments. Prepare ourselves for an era where we get "we're taking it one week at a time" cliches ad nauseum. Thank GOD there is still Jonathan Brown who still maintains the "tell it like it is" mentality in his own brutish style. After him, that will be the end.
Im in the same boat as you Gadj, I love Aker the personality, but it's hard to fault the Western Bulldogs cutting him if they had/have genuine reasons for believing he is causing more harm than good.
The concern I have is how genuine those reasons are .. Cornes and Rowe switched to Melbourne to talk to a journo about it yesterday, and he commented that what he found odd was only a few hours before the press conference he asked Eade about Aker, and Eade's response was along the lines of "He's going ok, he'd be a chance for the weekend" .. Then 2 hours later he's gone!
It's hard not to believe the Bulldogs have acted more upon suspicion than evidence, or that player power is reaching a potentially concerning level.
Interesting times at Whitten Oval, how much longer do they have with this group if they don't achieve the ultimate success, before they start to break the list up?
