The words 'rather' and 'lose' should never appear next to each other when discussing the Hawthorn football club. Give yourself an uppercut!

That's not quite fair. In the past I've said many good things about them...

'They have the most fitting jumper colours'
'They belong in Tasmania'

and

'Nothing's too good for Hawthorn'.

The only club in the league who'll tell you the league didn't start until 1961 and that rushing 11 behinds in a granny is not an act of cowardice.

Anyone else going?
Looks like a windy day with a few showers at this stage which is a shame.
Great to have such a huge match in the traditional Saturday afternoon slot.
Hawks to be in front at final siren but a goal after the siren to the J Pod will give the Cats the win. ;)

I'll be there, taking my son over to see his first game at the 'G'. Looking for a close game 'til 3/4 time, then I hope the Cats blow them away in the last. Might take in the Bulldogs and Carlton game Sunday evening as well.

A big out. Does that mean the 'spiritual' captain now takes the reins? Should make Dermie happy.

I hope this one is not a fizzer but I think as a Hawks man our much heralded winning streak does not represent form to even get near Geelong to be honest.
3 point over Richmond...(Tuck caught by Mitchell shooting for goal with 9 secs left)
2 points over Sydney at home.......(Swans had shot on siren)
16 points over Essendon.......( after being 9 pt down at the 15 min mark of last term)
3 points over Bulldogs.........( dogs had shot on siren)
11 points over Port at MCG......(ports form?? we were at home)
Only 3 pts in front of Adelaide with 15 secs left of 3rd term down in Tassie(up until the Crows capitulation we just were horrid)
Beat Carlton easily after their big comeback win here in Adelaide v The Power.

Before this "streak " we lost to West Coast-North Melbourne-Essendon in pretty feeble fashion.
Our play is 30% down on most of '08 in my opinion .
Cats easily if i was to punt on it :(

Am I correct in seeing this game, one of the games ofthe year isn't on Adelaide TV with the blockbuster battle between West Coast and Adelaide on 2 channels?
Glad Ill be there but I feel sorry for Footy fans in this state that won't be, what a farce!
Yet another reason to piss off FTA coverage.

That would be right, not sure how the cats fans fare but the hawks quite often get shafted with this arrangement!

and REB, if we didnt rush the 11 points you would have lost by 37 points!

I think the cats will be too strong, but it will be good to play the best now for a reality check. Further to what Mick Redden said above, I think the hawks only play to the level of the opposition they play. Sides we should belt we dont, yet teams I think will steamroll us we go OK.

I see Ottens is possibly back, hope he has nowhere near the impact he had earlier this year!

Otto will be parked in the forward 50 as you blokes can't handle the gorilla forwards. It will make life easier for Pods. Ling is the important inclusion for Geelong. If he goes to Hodge it's night night Hawks.

i kep hearing the radio advertising for a couple of games in saturday and one isnt for the cats v hawks, I thought thats a tad unusual perhaps they missed out with the pick this week, but now to read that it isnt even on telly is devastating, I was looking forward to sitting out in my back room watching the game whilst drinking my heineken keg :( :(

Looks like Cameron Ling will have to follow Hodge all day so Hodge can take him to the ball since Mitchell isn't playing.

Think you'll find Ling is one of the few who can negate someone and accumulate possessions at the same time. He's probably the best at it so don't think he needs to be shown where the ball is.

The only reason the cats won today was Hawthorns poor kicking for goals. I was watching the game and had to come to work thank god i recorded it so I can watch it tomorrow.

CRAP. We hit the post 4 or 5 times and the umpiring was deplorable.

I tell ya what though, its only when you go to games live that you realise that Jimmy Bartel is the best Geelong player by quite a distance.
GAJ is probably the most brilliant player of all time in close but I'd have Jimmy any day if there was a choice.
