If he needs any clean out then whats that 3 - 4 weeks as a minimum out? Seriously I have no idea.

Either way it now opens the door for young walker who has been ok at Norwood since being sent back there. The point im making is that Walker can no really cement a place in the line up now. Which will be a good long term investment for the crows.

See with Porplyza and Tippett starting to find form them the crows forward line just starts to look that bit dangerous again.

Add Knights and Johncock back in and it's getting very close to our best team IMO.. :D :D

Would love to see Petrenko play the Johncock role, we look a little tall down back with the quickish forward line..

I'll be interested in how Tippett goes at CHF if he does play there. It's something I wanted to see tried.
I might swap Doughty and VB over though depending who the opponent is and the leg speed required.
Walker at FF with Stevens in the pocket is a better bet. I'd be worried with Walker the only tall, and able to be double teamed.
[I don't think he knows what to do if it gets punched away consistently... ]

Im glad to see Walker get another crack at it, and Burton did need to be dropped. Common sense call.

But, i keep hearing people say 'Play a forward structure that suits Walker, play him out the square as a lead up target...etc,etc'. Surely if Walker is going to keep his spot, HE needs to fit into the forward structure, not the forward structure being altered to suit him ? Adelaide's forwards are expected to be able to lead through 360 degrees, not just up the ground. Tippett, Porps and even Burton can do that, so Walker needs to be able to do that to, otherwise he will find himself back at the 'Legs very quickly.

If i hear another person say 'We need to play him in the right spot' i will spew ! Taylor Walker needs to do the things that are currently being done by the other forwards, and do them well.

Walker is neither Wayne Carey, Jono Brown or Nick Reiwoldt so for anyone to suggest the structure be built around him is hard to comprehend.

At his age and with his experience he should be busting his arse week in week out to retain his spot. Some Adelaide fans have such an inflated opinion of him it beggars belief.

I think the fans are more excited about what he can be given the right opportunity, not what he is right now. Having said that he still adds more to the team than Burton right now IMO.

Same difference, I don't see how he's any different to any player that fans get excited about due to their potential so fail to see your point.

My point is, does he get the opportunities because he might be something or does he get the opportunities because he is doing the right thing by the side?

The fans would pick the first part, basing his selection on what he might be and that is the wrong way to go about it.

I dont know what role he will end up playing as I dont think he is a key forward. Lake,Scarlett,Carlile will all monster him in one on one's and Fisher,Brennan and Glass would be too tall and too fast for him.

The weight of expectation on the lad is far too high for someone who ( IMO ) will end up being a bit player.

I agree Booney that expectations have probably ruined more careers than injuries have and there's needs to be a reality filter applied at times. There are a whole range of areas he needs to work on if he's going to make it. Some players do respond better in their development to the pressure at the highest level. Phil Davis had average form IMO before getting his call up yet I was confident he would do well, as such he has.

As for right now, still think Walker gives the Crows a more potent option and won't need many chances to have an impact on the scoreboard.

Scott Thompson is a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s team to play North Melbourne.
Thompson out - from the club:

Thompson, who has a sore calf, will be replaced in the 22 by Tony Armstrong, who has not played for the Crows since making his AFL debut in the opening round.

Armstrong’s inclusion means Adelaide’s 22 will have five players with 10 games or less AFL experience - Armstrong (1 game), Myke Cook (10), Phil Davis (4), Chris Schmidt (7) and Matthew Jaensch (2).

Rory Sloane takes his spot on the emergency list, and Jonathon Griffin and Jack Gunston will be in Melbourne with the team.

Brett Burton has today had an arthroscopy to clean out his knee. The Crows forward yesterday saw his surgeon, who recommended the procedure.

Hmmm, lose a bit of grunt now around the ball. Huge dent to our chances.
