That might harm the SANFL more than benefit Port if the catering revenue drops. If you do it for Port, the Crows will want the same. Also, you have to do the sums on it:

- extra people that attend PLUS
- lesser admission price per head of the 22,000 (say) who would have gone anyway MINUS
- reduced catering revenue off everyone attending MINUS

You could easily end up worse off. You might need another 10000 people attending just to offet the reduced catering and admission prices. Before you know it, it's spiralled off the wrong way.

I'm sure the AFL and the SANFL would tell Port that it's got to be about getting more people in at existing prices. That's why the AFL want the stadium issue removed via an upgrade to AO.
In between signatures .....

Sturt sponsor -- Sturt AGM -- The way Sturt voted on the proposed Port/Magpies merger? Interesting.

You do realise that Nick House is on the Port board?

The club is blocking out some seated areas this year with large banners, to ensure that crowds are kept tighter together. Was wondering if it was worth exploring the idea of, rather than blocking out these sections, a couple are opened and used solely for standing patrons only? Given the seats flip up anyway, it wouldn't mean that seats have to be permanently taken out - would allow for those more old fashioned fans that like to stand at the footy, to watch the game in that manner and not disturb anyone that is seated behind them. Thought it might be worth exploring anyway.

It would look odd having a bay of standing supporters in the middle, I like the way you're thinking though, I would take out the back 5-6 rows of a few bays and have that standing room. Moving people on for standing is off putting, I'd rather stand at the back than be seated any day.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Mite need to do your sums again mate. Anyway i agree with REB. Play a better brand of football and you mite get some old supporters back and entice some new ones along. Dont reckon cheaper tickets, unless theyre $1 each or something ridiculous, is the answer. Giving away shit aint the answer IMO. Whataver the answer is i reckon its a long and slow process and has more to do with the way we play and probably more importantly the perception of the way we play.

Where are my sums wrong ? 10:30 000 = 1:3000 doesn't it ?
And I never said reduce the ticket prices, all I said was it would cost Port $1 from each of 30 000 tickets to buy a $30 000 car each game.

I knew that, but never made the connection ( ie : had never heard the 'Nick' part when Sturt/House Brothers was discussed ) and if I did it just had not 'clicked'. Port fan after all.... 8)

I think autowicky is saying 10 games at 30,000 equals 300,000 total and is therefore a 1 in 30,000 chance.

I'd like a mathematical genius to explain it or correct it, but I believe the odds would still be 1/30000.
