Got myself a ticket to the AFL Grand Final, can't believe I'll be going to the game !!!

My nephew is playing for the SA Under 16's in the curtain raiser to the AFL GF and his mum can't go so I'm getting my hands on the ticket !!

Only thing is, I will be flying over to Melbourne at 6am the morning of, at the G all day, then flying home at 9pm that night, will be a long day, then I have to back up on the Sunday down at AAMI for the SANFL Prelim final !!

Can't wait though !!

Any advice on what the easiest, quickest and cheapest way would be to get from the Melbourne Airport to the MCG at about 8.00am in the morning and then from the G and back to the airport after the game, to be at the airport for about 7pm ??

Taxi to the G from the airport will be $50+.

I'd get the Skybus. $26 for a return ticket or $18 one way, takes you from the airport to Southern Cross Station - takes about 20-25 minutes. From there, jump on the 75 tram on Spencer Street which takes you straight to the ground. Do it in reverse for the return leg - if you're at Southern Cross by 6.00, you'd be right.

Yeah to the G & back in a taxi from the airport will cost you $90
It is alot of cash but saves alot of time stuffing around with shuttle buses, trams & trains etc.

Once at Spencer Street, just catch any train on the Glen Waverley, Lilydale/Belgrave (platform 10/11 from memory), Frankston and it will stop at Richmond. Also, there are trains that go through Jolimont station, I think they are the Epping and Hurstbridge lines but a lot of these will be express through Jolimont. It is quicker than a tram.

This is where the ticketing is all wrong. The gold members of each grand final club should get a ticket without any question. It rewards them for forking out the money to become a member of the highest category.

All the clubs that miss out shouldn't get tickets allocated. Those members should go into a raffle for tickets after all the GF team members have been allocated tickets.

It's difficult being a member of a club knowing that if they do reach the GF you might miss the privilege of being there.

Clubs should be pushing the AFL to ensure this occurs. With a GF ticket on the end of it, gold memberships have that extra lure about them.

Phil, my old man is going as head trainer of the 16's. I understood there was a bus picking them all up. You should see if you can wangle a trip with them!

FWIW, my dad can't stand footy (likes the injury prevention and diagnosis) and doesn't really want to go to the GF!!!!

Definately taxi Phil or do what we do and book a hire car each way, its a better way to travel, more reliable and virtually the same price. But you're missing out on the best part of the day which is drinking the night away in the Crown afterwards!

$800 appears to be by far the cheapest GF package around. (prime gf ticket, ticket to a prelim, ticket to Port Power b/fast). Most other packages start at $1300.

Legalised scalping.... :?

One of my lads mates is playing in that final, one ticket for the parents. Maybe the biggest game the boy will ever play & only one parent gets a ticket to see it, while thousands of parasites on corporate tickets will hardly know who's playing let alone turn around & watch the game.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.
