Big change for Geelong: Steve Johnson is OUT (hip) and Tom Hogan is IN.

Our cunning plan to bring in Simon Hogan instead of Steve Johnson and to give the Saints a five goal head start has failed to pay dividends. ;) Geelong lost because of our skill level (or lack of it) in the first half. The clangers made by top players in Ling, Ablett and Selwood were just unacceptable. Saints too good and what a match!

What a game....

However do the saints have much left in the Tank??? King to come back in and Maguire is about it.

Cant see HUdgton getting a gig infront of gilbert, dawson and co.

Geelong have, Stevey J, Ottens to come back in who are arguably 2 of the best 4 players in the side (or most important) .

Good game for both sides, but it shows to me that if Ottens comes back and plays up forward instead of Hawkins, i think Geelong will get the goods come September.

What a game!!!!!!

St K- harder at it today and had the best two key forwards on the ground. Kosi cops his fair whack, but he was very good today. Hayes a huge final quarter, and Gardiner played his best game for the club.

Superb win. 8)

I think Gardiner was the difference today, he played like he did when he was at his best for the eagles. A fit and firing Ottens will make it harder for him to dominate like that but he did very well today.

Riewoldt also stood up today. Was a great game to watch and would be happy to see that sort of game on the last saturday in september.

What a fantastic crash-the-pack mark by Gardiner. You don't see enough of those these days.

Great pressure footy that produced classic ebbs and flows. When either side was bursting defensive lines with hard running it was superb to watch.

Agree with the points on Gardiner, that mark was Leo Barry-esque.

Sensational Mark - can't decide if it was better than Riewoldt's mark early - running back towards goal with the flight of the ball and into traffic/posts etc.

Gilbert was also sensational for the Saints, and for the cats Bartel, Rooke, Varcoe and Chapman were all great.

Atmosphere was electric but most of the game was quite disturbing as for the 2nd time in 3 weeks I witnessed a guy have a heart attack at the footy. They worked on the guy from about quarter time almost to the end of the game.
Had a ball at the Crown last night, met Robbie Muir who was over from Perth for the game. Really nice bloke.
So hungover today, missus is driving me home.

Both pearlers but I'd have to go for Gardiners ... To fly from that far back and have such clean hands at money time of a pressure cooker made it a pretty special mark imho.

Yep MP, it's hard to see that one being topped in a long long time ... Was very impressed with the way the Cats dug deep to find that extra effort, especially given their rotations would have been compromised by injury.

Mark Blake had the best view of Gardiners mark too....what was he thinking not contesting? He has to be dropped this week. Not good enough.
