Crows v Tigers

Talk on the national game

Postby sydney-dog » Sun May 21, 2006 2:20 pm

I agree, the crows played their zone defence and should of went one on one, but even so once you do go man on man it is still very hard to stop that tactic, the reason is, it is very easy for a side to put on some screens or blocks to release a free player or create a mismatch so a player has the speed to lead his player to the footy.........

Going man on man is easier said then done

The crows played pretty bad and only lost by 3 points. We still nearly pinched it.

If we had of played a better team it would of been a lot worse.

My hat is tipped to Wallace and the RFC as they went in with a game plan and it was delivered extremely well by its players.
It is what it is !!!

Not sure what to maker of that encounter.Firstly most would have to agree Terry Wallace deserves some credit for the way he managed to get a vastly understrength team, with many top line players missing,to beat a side that even at full strength you would expect would have trouble and Adelaide to win comfortably.

Sydney Dog,the last thing we want to see is the rules comittee introduce more rules to stem the flow of game,we need rules which encourage scoring, perhaps,as I have said once before,a bonus point on the premiership ladder if you kick 20-25+ goals.

Well done Wallace, lets just hope other coaches dont think this is a way to beat a side which is clearly better performed than their own.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

the crows can't escape the fact that they played dumb footy, they had 26 clangers in the first half, they missed tackles, didn't keep their feet and got caught holding the ball on numerous occassions.......

we had plenty of opportunity to take the game out of the tigers hands and failed to do so

big concern for me is the lack of around te ground work from Biglands and clarke When Rhett Biglands and Matthew Clarke can manage only six kicks, two handballs and three marks between them, it's time to look to the future.

Geez Crows, your own medicine didn't taste nice, did it?

Spot on mate. Reading Ian's whiney posts is the only thing that can cheer me up on a night were the Cats are getting done by ten goals in one half!!

Selection will be interesting this week

Both Torney and Welsh had solid returns in the SANFL, Knights again played well for WWT, Maric was solid and Meesen seems to be on the improve........

Stevens must be under pressure, my opinion it is time to bring either Maric or Meesen in for Clarke.......

Clarke has been a great tap ruckman, but I would like to see more from a big man, Clarke and Biglands had approx 8 touches between them all day, Symonds had more in the 1st 1/4 alone

Obviously living in Sydney I do not get to see either Maric or Meesen at local level, so can someone tell me if either of these boys have the ability to play as a third tall up forward......

I would say Maric would be more suited to that type of role.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards
