If Ashley Porter can be believed, it will be a 1 year deal:

If Choco only gets offered a 1 year deal at approx half pay he'll tell Port to get stuffed ...

Hi guys first time ive posted on this thread. I just got a phonecall. Cant reveal too much, but i was told that a well funded sponser has stated that they will not continue there sponsorship if Williams was to resign. Now this gentleman recieved a phonecall himself saying that Williams has not been signed. I may have to eat my words but you wouldnt think a major sponsor would be told something they want to hear. Besides the power need ALL their sponsors at the moment. Has anyone else heard this?

We'll know in about an hour but if Port have offered Choco a new contract there is absolutely no certainty he will accept ... alleged pressure from sponsors, if true, will further muddy the waters.

I've been wrong plenty of times before, but get the deck chair, esky and cold pales to watch this one unfold methinks ;)

Rucci on 5AA this morning said it was smiles all round after he was re-appointed for 2 years with Chocco agreeing to a pay cut.

Basically repeating what he said in the article.

Port's media release says this:

The Port Adelaide Football Club is to enter negotiations with senior coach Mark Williams over a new two-year contract.

Williams was told he would be made an offer at his home in a face-to-face meeting with Port Adelaide President Brett Duncanson and Chief Executive Mark Haysman immediately after the conclusion of last night’s Power Board meeting.

A clause in Williams’ current contract required the club to give him an indication of his coaching future by June 30.

The club will not publicly discuss detail of the new contract offer, which will be made this week, other than its length.

So Choco has the best of both worlds ... he can negotiate with Port while he gets Ricky Nixon to hawk him to prospective Melbourne clubs without compromising his contractual obligations at Port. If nothing comes up, he stays.

Good luck to him ... looks like the Power blinked first. ;)

Just watched the press conference with Choco ... he's definitely staying and most definitely wants to be there.

It was a most impressive display of unity and quite enjoyable to watch (for a Port hater!).

LOL, the funniest thing was about halfway through, you could hear a mobile ring and then Choco piped up and asked if that was Hutchy (wait for the exclusive scoop).

It may not please all but it's official, Choco is there to stay for 2 more years ...

I seem to be in the minority in thinking it's a good move.

He has the runs on the board - great W-L record, 2 GF appearances, 1 premiership.

He is overseeing a second rebuilding of the list and the players seem to be right behind him. The players now need to take responsibility on the field I reckon.

I'm not sure a Hardwick would achieve much greater in the next 2 years with the list as it is. I still maintain it's not a top 4 list like the local media have made out before this season and the last. Consequently, I don't believe they are under-achieving as much as others do. They don't have the depth of quality yet to cover Chad, S Burgoyne, Boak.
