I agree with cutterman, unfortunately the melbourne based footy shows dont realise it is 2009 and that other teams exist outside of Victoria. They still think its the VFL and if it wasnt for the money generated by the non victorian teams you wouldnt have the excessive number of victorian teams in the competition.

The Footy Show at least did something by ramping up Showdown but the Crows and Port sent "low" profile players, so now their games are displayed last each week and not spoken about. Mind you, I think that's purile by the Footy Show, to alleviate conjecture about perceived bias, they should name the teams in order of how they appear on the program and therefore scuttle any talk of bias.

The only show that doesn't show bias IMO is On The Couch. All other shows, radio or TV are biased toward their local team(s).

Ok, seems that I've touched a nerve of a few Vic club supporters living in SA, then fair enough. My point is, if you're able to remove the chips off your shoulders, isn't about Adelaide, it's about the format in general, the Victorian-centric attitude of the show, which I remind you is on national TV, (as compared to any media that is produced in SA). Is Footy Classified shown in Qld & NSW? If not then thats 10 / 14 clubs represented by one state so you would have to expect the focus of the show to represent that?

Also your example was the crows /essendon match....last time i checked Essendon were Victorian??


I am a port fan and on the occasion i do watch a Melbourne based footy program i dont expect much if any news focusing on Port. Also Classified in particular seem to focus on the negatives in footy (nasty incidents, coaches on the brink etc, board takeovers) there hasnt been much of that from any inerstate club for a while.

Dont put up an argument with a question, do you know if your argument is true, cause it doesn't seem as though you do. My point is that it's shown outside of Vic. Hence it's national= wider audience from it's parent state. FFS it's not that hard what I'm trying to say. It's not about Adelaide crows, nor SA teams, it's about a fair and interesting coverage of the AFL! AFL total, not only in Vic but across the counrty, it's not that ******* hard.

Can you imagine the whingeing if the Melbourne media had an award for players in Melbourne based clubs only? Adelaide people would scream like stuck pigs, and yet our media do precisely that.

The show may be telecast around Australia, but it's still a Melbourne production. We have shows telecast into Adelaide from all points of the planet, but we don't expect Amercian shows to talk about South Australia. Adelaide ratings aren't all that important to networks on Sydney and Melbourne, that's a fact.

As Duthy said earlier ... just how much media coverage do Adelaide people want FFS???!!!

Simply AH, because they are the ones pretending the rebadged VFL is the "AFL" and runs a genuine national competition.

Yep its true. Not shown in Qld or NSW. So it is not actually a nationally televised program. It is a melbourne produced show using Victorian journalists and identities that is shown in the other Footballing states as it will still get reasonable ratings. If you want a non biased, = allocated time for all clubs program then watch One week at a Time as that IS a nationally televised program and SHOULD make sure it provides fair coverage on each club.

It was great, I loved Gary saying to her "You dont speak for the footy public Caro" he had to say it twice before it got thru though!

It clearly showed how they latch onto any perceived weakness at a footy club like a leech and wont let go, while any positives are swept under the carpet...

Interesting that Hutchy kept right out of any questioning - he only goes after easy targets - JB was too tough for him

from memory I think that was all in their media at the time, but there was court restrictions of it being published in SA

I agree with this. I haven't watched FC for a long time. In fact the only time I watched, they had some "face off" in which three members of the media (Hutchinson, Wilson and Robinson) debated with three AFL club Presidents.

One was Gardner the (then) incumbent President of Melbourne. He asked the best question of all ... "Why does the media feel they need to bite the hand that feeds them?". I would really like to know the answer to that myself, but of course he never got an answer ... just dribble.

Caro and Hutchy are fine examples of everything I hate about the media.
