On last night's game, I thought he'd already signed. He was in post-contract signing form. Why would you want to give a lucrative 3 year contract to someone who only plays well in the final year of a contract?

Fair play to Brett Ratten who i guess had enough of all this talk and came out Saturday morning on Melbourne radio and said that any player who wants to chase an extra few k rather then commit to carlton can leave. hours later apparently Fev rang his mates at Triple M and went public saying that he would be at Carlton next season and beyond.

Could have backfired on the coach enormously but admire his courage for saying enough is enough if a player thinks they are bigger then the club or can manipulate their contract through the media then they can go no matter who they are.

Very sensible of them. He has talent, but isn't reliable enough to get as much as he wants.

I've never had the greatest of respect for the Carlton Football Club over the years, but they are handling this one beautifully. If you can believe the media (which is always risky) Carlton have told Fevola "here's your contract, take it or leave it". They will have salary cap issues with younger players coming out of contract and can't really afford excessive payments to Fevola.

I've also heard they have given Fevola a time frame to sign, possibly as early as next week so things may get interesting afterall.
