amazing, last week they push the premiers, this week they play like they've won the premiership (and have a massive hangover).

How do you pick them in your footy tips? I did, like most no doubt, but you have no confidence when you click the button alongside their name.

Easy, just pick their opponents.

Is it a coincidence that aside from Melbourne, the 2 worst clubs in Freo and Essendon have the 2 WORST coaches ???

What a terrible footy club they are. Pavlich is an idiot for staying.

Gotta love Chris McDermott last year when he said that Pav should stay there and captain them to a Premiership.

I quote from that article (Anchorman - Why Pav should stay a Docker):

"Perhaps, like the Crows of 1996, it may just be the year they had to have to pave the way for success in the not-too-distant future. For that reason alone Pavlich must remain a Docker in 2008 and beyond. His job there is clearly not done. As captain of the club his responsibility is even greater...."

So he alone can win a flag through leadership? I thought that four best and fairests, three times club leading goalkicker and five times All-Australian would be example enough? Doesn't seem to be working, still.

"...There is much to be said for being a one-club player. Not many get to do it at the club the grew up cheering for. Those loyalties disappear the moment a team's jumper is pulled on. Pavlich's football home is Fremantle. Stephen Kernahan's is Carlton. John Platten's is Hawthorn. Both these champions resisted the lure of a return to SA, remaining loyal to their interstate clubs. They are now icons of those establishments, etched in history forever. Pavlich is in their class. He must make the same choice - lead the Dockers through their darkest hour and emerge with a premiership cup in hand."

So Darren Jarman and Gavin Wanganeen should not be "etched in history forever" because they returned home?

What a load of crap that article was.

I have that article by Bonehead. I thought to myself that it was the only time I've agreed with him, that he's made sense. Well now he's proven to be 100% full of shit.

**** this club.

At least following Sturt during the dark times we had past success to console ourselves. This Fremantle mob bring nothing to the table. Pricks.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

How would Sticks look at the Dockers? Roughly the same as the Big Pav.

Over a 10 year career, under the current equalisation policies of the AFL, every player who stays at one club has a good chance of playing in a GF and even winning one.

Over the last 10 seasons 8 of the 16 teams won a premiership and another 3 have played in a losing GF.

So the fact that Pav looks no closer to a GF trip than he did when he started surely says something about the Dockers' administration. The system is designed to cycle the clubs through the attic and cellar regularly. If you are continually stuck downstairs then something's seriously wrong and you are not up to current best-practice standards of running a successful sporting team.

Anyone catch "On The Couch" tonight?

Freo's problems run further back than Harveys relatively short time in charge as the main man, but fair dinkum, all he offered was excuses on virtually every front (Tarrant, recruiting of older players, Peter Bell's living in Geraldton, Josh Carrs ill-discipline etc.).

Seems to have been a problem at Freo for quite some time now and were I a supporter I would have found that pretty dis-heartening tonight .. Surely this is a club that needs to stop pussy-footing around and accepting mediocrity??

I'd say that Harvey sees himself as the man to instil hardness of mind into an almost-there list, hence the recruting of older players (Mark Johnson - a poor man's Harvey). Allowing Bell to go to Geraldton was crazy, probably symptomatic of the lunatics running the asylum. Interesting that he has now shifted back to Perth.

All Freo's coaches have been first timers.
