It's a different side to the one that has traditionally struggled with matchups against the Eagles in the past. When you go into a game with unknown quantities you never know what will come out of it. You just never know. I will say this though, I vividly recall Glass being made a fool of by Westhoff last year; Tippett is a similar type except bigger, stronger and based on 20m sprint times, quicker. Not to say Glass will get destroyed again, but with that game in mind I will watch this one with interest should it eventuate. It's a big unknown in our forward line that may benefit the matchups.

Will we win? If I were a betting man I'd pick the Eagles; the Crows shouldn't win if you compare the squads. But in those five players I named we have unknown quantities - we don't know what they will add to or subtract from the usual matchup heads WC give us, and that's an exciting thing imo.

Wouldn't be surprised if Adelaide got up.

We've got Masten and Ebert to throw in the mix of unknown quantities. I reckon Tippet would probably draw a Hunter or Graham. Graham, being the taller of the two would be more likely. Hopefully Ebert can do a few things to impress the crows brain trust who overlooked him. He's probably glad he didn't get drafted to the crows, he could have ended up a dud like a lot of their previous draftees...

Fantastic result today, kicking 132pts and winning by 76pts

Special mentions to

Goodwin, 7 goals, cou;d be the crows version of Brad Johnson
Bock, outstanding at CHB, 32 touches
Doughty, excellent job on Kerr
Griffen, centre square work was excellent
Massie and Jericho, 41 touches between them, they have come in and played their role
Macca and Stiffy, close to 60 touches between them, they just continued to mop up across HB
Symes, answered his critics with 25 touches
Proplyzia, VB and Thompson, controlled the midfield and stoppages

Great win

This is an end of an era for the Eagles.....

I expected Adelaide to win but not by this much. I don't think anyone thought the Crows would have won this easily.....

Big call saying the end of an era but losing Judd and Cousins at once will take its toll, how would the Crows fare if they lost Goodwin and McLeod or if Geelong lost Ablett and Bartell, it would hurt any side if they lost 2 geniune superstars at once. Eagles will still finish high on the ladder. Crows had an exceptional day but with so many kids in the side they will not play like that every week.

I agree totally, crows were very clean & quick today.
Goodwin was "god" up fwd.

As for the eagles finishing higher than the crows, i'm not to sure about that, they were exposed today & alot of other clubs will be watching the replay of that game closely.

Astute work by yours truly to foreshadow this result. 8)

Excellent game by the lads today, great to finally break the hoodoo (about bloody time). So many contributors, but I must single out Jericho - sure he had 19 possessions and has the physical attributes to be a good AFL player but being very close to the action today it is clear how soft he continues to be. One handed marking attempts, the slightest nudge causes him to drop the simplest of marks on the lead. Was selective with how hard he chased the opposition; I cannot repeat this enough but this guy has so much ability with zero heart!!

I'm on the fence regarding selection next week - I don't believe any player, regardless of how many touches they get, deserves to be in an AFL side if they don't give 100%. Jericho out, Knights in next week for mine.

Also... McGregor: too slow to play anywhere but full forward and unfortunately for him there is a young man by the name of Kurt Tippett who is an infinitely better prospect in this spot. On more than one occasion today I watched Kenny fall behind the contest and I imagined the much quicker Gill in the same passage of play: would have accelerated to the contest and at least put the pressure on. Hentschel, Gill, Sellar in a year or so, these are the guys we should be looking at. Can't wait for Gilly and Potential to come back from injury, hopefully in place of McGregor.

You will see that I'm one of the more positive posters going around for the AFC, I'm just calling out where we can improve even further. McGregor can play when the ball comes in over his head in a standing contest, but he just does not have the mobility to roam across the HF area which is where Tippett's inclusion has forced him. If we are to continue with this setup I am afraid you will see Kenny lose his place sooner rather than later a la Perrie last year.
