the joker wrote:it is surprising that every one thinks the crows will finish down the bottom. they have twelve games at aami win 8 of 12 and only have to win 4 of 10 just to make the finals. and i exspect johncock, thompson, knights, maric, vince to make big strides this year. and with the core group crows will be hard to beat at home and the have a very good record away over the last three years

Last year they lost to Essendon, Geelong, West Coast and Fremantle at home. 12 games at AAMI isn't an automatic 12 wins. You don't have to win 4 out of ten to make the finals, you need 12 wins. Where are they going to come from?

Perhaps you could enlighten us where they might come from by posting your ladder my good man.

Drama Queen. You should be used to people underrating your club by now.

What amazes me is how every summer people get a magnifying glass out when they assess St Kilda. 66 didn't drop them for nothing folks.

Found it hard leaving the Dogs and Lions out ... Dutchy, no disrespect to the Roo's intended, but 10 into 8 doesn't go.

Know I will be miles off as there's generally an unexpected bolter that surprisingly makes the 8, just as there's generally one that plummets.

geelong - doesn't seem to be any real weakness in the squad. a lot depends on ottens reprising good form and mooney staying out of trouble. midfield is not quick but you don't have to be when you have the ball. mackie to have standout year.
hawthorn - on percentage from west coast/collingwood. dew and williams to add extra to what was an increasingly one dimensional attacking structure.
west coast - judd and cousins often weren't there last year (esp later) and they still went okay. play subiaco very well and will expect to win 10 out of 12 there leaving only 5 or so needed to make top 4. look for waters and hurn to spend more time in the middle.
collingwood - an even side coached well that play with spirit. travis cloke to really kick on. question mark will be whether they can replace clement but maxwell and o'brien started that in 07. wood to make a difference allowing fraser to play his natural ruck rover game.
st kilda - started adapting to lyons' new game plan and have a wealth of talent. a lot depends on the return of maguire and staying injury free.
port - grrr. won't win as many close games as last year but will be more than competitive. expect a better year from tredrea.
sydney - won't be as injury riddled as 07 and often dictate the style of game played. always win a few away. kennelly to move on to the ball and hall to kick 80+.
kangaroos - thompson to add firepower especially in second half of year. do just enough to make the 8.

brisbane - to improve with bradshaw; a chance for 6-12th. hopefully sherman to regain form. if johnstone clicks then delivery will be a lot better into the forward line. question marks over defence apart from adcock and merrett. 'd personally like them to finish higher but have to temper enthusiasm with realism.
Western Bulldogs - also pushing for 6-12th. hudson to help but welsh is not the answer to their lack of a marking forward but will kick 35-50.
Fremantle - could finish as high as 3rd or as low as 14th. that's why i've got them in the 6-12th group. if harvey can harness the talent, then finals beckon. they need peake to have a standout season.
Adelaide - no forward line but a rock solid defence and a serviceable midfield. would be good if craig leaves bock at chb and gets game time into the forward line for 09. i'd expect edwards and jericho to play up forward and it wouldn't suprise me to see punchy bassett up there either. will have a solid percentage even though they'll average approximately 4 goals a game
Melbourne - can't have as bad luck with injury. rivers to massively help the backline and sylvia to have a good year. they haven't changed that much since 06 and were causing [plenty of headaches then. bailey to continue the line of very good coaches produced by port and mak williams.
Carlton - judd, hadley and stevens to add plenty but still no backline. will win at least 7 games to give supporters plenty of hope f(and reasons to) for 09
Essendon - not as bad as many think but any injury to ryder, fletcher, lucas and lloyd will kill them. midfield is getting there but ...
Richmond - somebody has to finish here. any of the last four sides could. will improve but the lack of another marking forward to cost them dearly. their backline is too easily ripped apart but i reckon thursfield will have a good year.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
