Collingwood should get off to a hammering start next season. I counted 5 out of the first 6 at the MCG.

Have a look at how many games Collingwood get at the MCG.

it is 10 of the first 12 but that is mostly because clubs with less money like north melbourne, melbourne, st kilda and richmond ask to have home games at the mcg vs collingwood to maximise crowds. they only travel once out of victoria til july 5th...

Its also because of the deal the AFL did the MCG to allow for preliminary finals to be played outside Victoria

I gather the MCG insisted on a certain number of Collingwood games (or other big ticket games) as compensation

Eddie's mob have to play in Perth in the last round Looking to see if theres any type of reaction from Eddiewood over that one.

It could not be half as bad as the maoning that went on in Adelaide one year.So thinking that it would be fair to have both Adelaide sides play in rd22 ensuring no-one travelled in Rd22 the next year they did the draw that way in responce and moans were even greater because "the Showdown is more demanding than any other game"

the AFL has certainly moved away from each club playing each other once in the first 15 rounds

Adelaide play the Saints for the first time in rnd 21 and Sydney in rnd 17...

The way the AFL have schedule the games of those clubs we play twice is also interesting, for example

The crows play the following clubs twice

Bulldogs - in rounds 1 and 22
Eagles - in rounds 2 and 9
Essendon - in rounds 10 and 20
Power - in rounds 3 and 16
Carlton - in rounds 6 and 18
Richmond - in rounds 11 and 19
Hawks - in rounds 4 and 12

As previously stated, the reason given by the AFL is to manage the travel demands

Personally, I believe it is a good draw for the crows, I am happy with the teams we play twice, we have 3 games at the MCG and only travel once to WA...

When that contract was re-done three years to ditch the prelims as a requirement at the MCG, the sub clause was 'best endeavours' for 14 games for Collingwood at the ground. Collingwood asks the AFL for a minimum of 9 home games and every other Vic club keeps wanting to play them there, so it's a pretty easy sell, especially when the club's average crowd over 22 rounds this year was 63,000 -- and only one ground holds more than 52.

but the sanfl do it so you play every team the same amount of times every three years.the AFL wont do that.
