Booney is on the money. Having a personal opinion and slander are completely different. If you want to allow that on here then you might as well shut down this great site!

We could all be a bit more careful about what we say at times but speculating on the reasons someone died is crossing the line. How can you have an opinion on an event when you don't know what actually happened?

If it were your brother or sister how would you feel if there was a free-for-all thread speculating on what happened?

I support the mods on this one

Yep, shows what the use of intoxicants as a way of life can do for you - mind you I am carefuly not asserting here that this particular person may have succumbed to the "footy star" syndrome rife at West Coast...

There are dead branches on the tree of life...!

In fact, the tree of life may look slightly ugly.....?

Those that can't move on through the darkest of times become a dead branch......

West Coast were absolutely awesome in the early 90's & with a gun like Mainwaring on the wing
they truly were a treat to watch!
R.I.P. Chris Mainwaring an absolute f'n legend of the game!

Now this was on AdelaideNow.com.au so im just repeating what has been printed in the media...

Mainwaring after a break down of his marriage went on a huge bender with alcohol, marijuana and ecstacy. Cousins saw him hours before he died as well.

More drugs associated with the eagles... this cant be good.

What an absolute shocker of a year for the Eagles -

Cousins drama
Judd injured
Judd Leaves
Kerr Injured
Lose by 3 points in Qualifying Final
Lose in Overtime in Semi Final
Mainwaring Dead

They will be glad when 2008 comes....

It is said Cousins was the last person to see him alive after leaving his home that night.

Cmon, those sentences went hand in hand.
At least delete the whole post.
Although it was more of a shot at the VERY not dead Cousins and his so-called rehabilitation.
Call it insensitive, but it's all very suspicious.

By all reports they were close mates and Chris was in a lot of emotional strife - so his mate visited to help/support and then left him thinking all was OK. As per Brad Hardie on 5AA last night.

To draw any more conclusions from that at this stage is very dangerous. Say what you like about Ben Cousins but how would you feel if one of your best mates died suddenly and you were one of the last to see him alive?

All very sad .....

I dont know if i'm as saddened as i am angered.
Any connection of a drug related death and the AFL, or football in general really pisses me off.
Sure, sad the man died.
But what's worse is he shouldn't be dead at all.
There shouldnt be an issue here.
And there is.
And it's constantly tip toed around.
And that pisses me off too.
