Still doesn't make it right - 26 thousand tickets between the two competing clubs is a joke!

Never said that it was, just saying it as it is.

I think 50% should be for competing clubs... split evenly.

The rest for MCC / Corporate / Sponsors

Any unsold tickets by close of business Wednesday then go to general public thursday.

100,000 tickets

Competing clubs
Other Clubs
MCC Members
AFL Members
AFL Sponsors
Corporate Tickets (packages)

I don't know why MCC Members are entitled to a GF Ticket/guarantee of a ticket.
Cricket yes, AFL no.

I would ensure the full members of both competing clubs were eligible for tickets.
The would be qualifying criteria for this (ie a token $10 junior membership wouldn't cut it)- maybe Memberships over $100 (excluding season tickets).
As for corporates, allocate a certain amount of tickets per $ level of sponsorship (eg- $100,000 =10 tickets)
& so on....

Interesting point punky.

AAMI stadium members don't get access to anything at AAMI stadium other than footy. However Adelaide Oval members get access to more than just cricket. I guess it all depends on how a stadium dresses up their membership package.

But I do agree that club (full) members should be rewarded with an opportunity to buy a GF ticket.

Well they should be entitled to some perks for allowing them to use the MCG. Like my SACA membership whilst I don't expect to get in free to an event (eg Rugby, Soccer etc) I do expect lower ticket prices/first preference for tickets for allowing them to use the facility that my subscription fee pays to maintain.

and 10k for a corporate ticket is a bit steep also IMO

have no problems with allowing the top class membership of each club the opportunity to get tickets

This is the reason why the VFL bulit Arctic Park. They were fed up with the MCC demanding so many seats for their Members at the MCG on Grand Final day. What happened the MCC pressured the Victorian Government to not put in a train line to Waverley and Waverley was never completed. So it is the VFL/AFl's mistake for not fighting the issue on this. Also WSC didn't help the relationship with the VFL letting Packer use the ground for Cricket's rebels.

Hey Wedgie I am a Norwood supporter first and foremost so I guess my rudeness is expected then! Maybe posted in haste but I still feel you missed the point, 26000 tix is not enough! I know if there was 50,000 available people would still miss out but not as many! I will get our tickets somehow, I have a few plans and strategies in place and feel confident. If not Federation Square will still be a great alternative IMHO!!!

Same s*** - different year.
This happens every year. The main reason we are hearing so much this year is there is actually a Victorian team in it. Last year and the year before was just as bad. Mrs Lindner follows the Eagles so I speak with some experience on this.
Every year people call for it to change and every year nothing happens.

In 1997 I missed out initially so I rang on the thursday when the members who weren't going gave their seats up. 5,000 more or less were available and they got something like 50,000 calls. Unbelieveable. I still managed to get 2 ! \:D/
I was speaking with two St Kilda fans on the bus on the way there and they had paid (scalpers) $1,500 for two (ordinary) tickets.

1. Competing Club Members 16000 - 26000 (So 8000 - 13000 each)
2. AFL Clubs (16 x 1000) 16000
3. MCC Reserve 16000 - 26000
4. AFL Members 15000 - 25000
5. AFL/Medallion Club Members 4500 - 5000
6. AFL Entitlements/Contractual Obligations 5000 - 15000
7. Competing Clubs 1500 - 2500 (This is for player families and staff of the competing clubs)

Why should the MCC get as many tix as the competing clubs?

Given the cufuffle surrounding the number of seats allocated to AFL members, have any punters changed their thoughts on whether the Grand Final should be moved (to say Telstra Stadium)?

Umm probably because that is what the MCC members reserve holds???

Why shouldn't the organisation that helped fund the redevelopment of the MCG and actually manage the stadium look after ther members that pay for the right purchase tickets to attend the GF and the Boxing day test match in the same way members Footy park can attend AFL finals

MOst MCC members are normal passionate footy fans (like us) who love the game just as much as what we do.

(and no I'm not an MCC member)

PS If you really want to go to an AFL Grand Final become a member of the AFL allows you to go into the Ballot to get a ticket to the GF
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
