Liked the look of 'The Senator' Mitch McGovern tonight.

Crows were covered on the AFL round table tonight.

They pretty much agreed with my thoughts on the Crows this year. Foward line gun, Backline - suspect but improving, and it will be the midfield where we struggle this year, as we havent shown to have the depth in that area.

That combined with the draw difficulty, had most of them expecting us to go down slightly.

To be honest I can't see the Crows making the Top 8 again this year with the loss of Dangerfield. I've fed the schedule into the Gamble-Tron 2000 and this is what it spat out (10-12).

R1 vs North Melb @ Etihad (L)

R2 vs Port @ Home (W)

R3 vs Richmond @ Etihad (L)

R4 vs Sydney @ Home (L)

R5 vs Hawthorn @ MCG (L)

R6 vs Fremantle @ Home (L)

R7 vs Bulldogs @ Etihad (L)

R8 vs Geelong @ Home (L)

R9 vs Gold Coast @ Metricon (W)

R10 vs GWS @ Home (W)

R11 vs St Kilda @ Home (W)

R12 vs West Coast @ Domain (L)

R13 Bye

R14 vs North Melb @ Home (W)

R15 vs Melb @ Home (W)

R16 vs Carlton @ MCG (W)

R17 vs Collingwood @ Home (W)

R18 vs Geelong @ Simonds (L)

R19 vs Essendon @ Home (W)

R20 vs Brisbane @ Home (W)

R21 vs Fremantle @ Domain (L)

R22 vs Port @ Adelaide (L)

R23 vs West Coast @ Home (L)

I think there are a few that the crows could win. Both showdowns are 50/50 and some of the dome games you have them in for a L are winnable for the crows.

I think you have undersold them here a bit. Could make the 8 in my opinion.

This season will be a tough one, sides like Collingwood, Port and Geelong are all expected to make the 8 and that will mean that 3 will need to drop out. I can see the Crows being one of those three. Dangerfield while its a massive loss I dont think would have changed this however based on a pretty tough early draw. Some sides get a massive benefit of being able to play an undermanned Essendon twice which should not only be two wins but large % also.
How we start the season is huge to how we finish it and I tend to agree that by half way point we may be on the wrong side of the win/loss ratio - but would love to be wrong!

Round table UGH. Overpaid waffle to come up with the bleeding obvious. I'll be staying well clear of a 'brains trust' that includes King and Brereton.

Not sure where the love for Collingwood comes from, not your comment itself as many punters have them improving enough to be finals bound. Not me. Not yet.

Brereton caused Rik E Boy more pain than some of his on field opponents, he'll never rate anything Dermott does.

Brereton was one of the best players I have seen. Loved the way he played. Hate his boofhead ego persona though. Just dreadful. In terms of pain, Dunstall caused us more grief than any individual Hawk IMO.

It was interesting to note the panel, be they experts or not, all seemed to think the crows would miss Dangerfield to the extent that they would miss finals this season.... other than Healy who had the crows in the 8. Crows fans that I speak too are very confident of top 4 this season.... see how it pans out hey!

you speak to different crows fans than me then! Honestly havent met a single fan that thinks we will do better than last year. Some think we will be about the same, most think we will go down slightly

Yes, clearly I must... one young bloke from cricket, and another lad (mid 20's) from golf..... maybe it's the optimism of youth!
