Could it be time for a change of coach and a change of message for both the players and spectators?
Things like this sometimes start at the top?
Mark Williams, while obviously a very good coach, could be delivering a tired message.
Hard to say that after taking a youthful side to the GF, but...

As for their crowds the first step they should take is remove the SANFL members from their membership numbers to give a true indication of their member base....

Please don't tell me you coach a premiership side by being ordinary.....

I don't like the bloke much, but you gotta give him credit.

Has his faults, but you cant overlook the club's highest winning percentage since hes been coach, the club winning a flag after 8 years, and making a g/f (albeit with disasterous results) after ony 1 real year of rebuilding. Have a look at how many early draft picks the club's has had compared to most other clubs as well.

True - but I don't think it was his coaching that failed them in those finals. It was the players on his list who shunk away at a crucial time.

Robbie Walls was a ordinary coach too IMO. He should have had a couple of more with that squad he had...

And he also contributed in a significant way the development of a lot of players who would have only been average footballers at other clubs eg Paxman, James, Montgomery, Schofield.

I too believe we should have 2 or maybe 3 flags, but, the coach must have a big say in a team getting to the Prelim final stage (22 weeks and a final) but, players not performing on the big day (Prelim 02-3 GF 07) cant all be put down to a coach, can it?

I think Mark is a very good coach, and it appears as though he is respected within the coaching fraternity.

Should Sheedy have more flags under his belt? Probably.Does this detract from him being a good coach.No.

Miles ahead of Choco, in what way? Laidley has no people/media skills at all, Choco puts on a show sometimes but its an act, its pretty obvious that when Laidley is abrasive, that thats his natural personality. What i'm getting at is that most AFL coaches aren't exactly riveting to listen to, Choco has quite a unique personality but i dont find him any worse than any of the other coaches.

yeah I do, but Dutchy we've had this conversation beofre vis-a-vis Choco's time at Glenelg. I rate him very highly as a coach and a communicator. What you see is what you get with Mark and there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Which is never they all seem to say the same thing in the 'miss quoted media' world we live in today. Which I guess is fair since everything they say will be twisted just to get a story.

Back to the point, well Choco isnt too bad. You cant actually say that laidley is good to listen too. I would put them both on par. Someone who I found is good was Mick Malthouse, at least he says what he thinks.

I do.At times his honesty is what makes him look silly.Instead of rolling out the politically correct line of the club,he says what he thinks.(See Tassie's comments)
