5. Where was Westhoff when we needed him to step up?
6. Who said umpires don't love to see an underdog cause an upset? They were disgracefully inconsistent & all their interpretations favoured Brisbane

Has westoff been playing at all this year? Thought he's been out all year :)

Neade looked good today in ressies, besides butcher are there any other key position players in reserves :S

From what I saw yesterday, No, not really. Butcher. Don't get me started on him. 3 possessions and a point in the ressies. How could he be considered for a spot in the AFL side. Be lucky to get a kick in a few B grade country sides.

Seemingly small, 16,000 for the bottom side in a state where Rugby is the #1 sport isn't that bad and 16 and a half for the side struggling the most against the team with the smallest supporter base is probably expected too, especially considering the Carlton faithful weren't too keen on seeing their side have their arses handed to them by the new kids on the block.

When you need 26k to break even at Etihad 16k is a disaster. Carlton lost approx $200k for the day

Surely in future seasons FNF should be featuring the finalists from the previous year

I missed the roos v bombers just gone, but there hasn't been any great spectacles.

And there won't be when Richmond, Carlton and Collingwood get a majority of them.

It really is ridiculous hey? When you put together that out of the 16K there they would've spent an average of $50 each, it's just crazy how they can run at so much of a loss. I guess Etihad is different given it's indoors and the electricity would be through the roof (pardon the pun).

My understanding is that because Etihad is owned by private companies they obviously want a decent profit so take massive chunks of the pie. The AFL takes ownership in 2025 so clubs will get a bigger slice of the pie and will receive the same as what MCG tennants do. Havnt got exact figures but all tennants bar Essendon require 26k to break even, we make a stack more thanks to the sweetner we cut with the stadium when it was built, I think around 18k was the figure quoted at our AGM.

id like to see GWS get some friday night footy, or at least free to air footy. Pretty sick of watching Carlton, Norf Malbin, Essendon, Collingwood etc on free to air.
The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

God knows how many people are going to tune in this Friday night when its an average side v a shite side and the margin will be upwards of 70pts

it will never happen, but it would be nice if the AFL followed the NRL and put 2 matches on a Friday night

100% agree.

Maybe they could make the fixture flexible mid season?

Would be hard from a logistical point of view but it would maximise ratings and attendances if the best teams were playing Friday.

16k for a Carlton game really is an indictment. If they get 60+ between two big Melbourne clubs surely that means they should get 30 odd for a game like this.

Makes you wonder why the Melbourne media doesn't highlight it more. They sure got stuck into port and their tarps.
