He also now has an interest in Adelaide United which may be influencing his politicking on this issue. Not that I am certain why AU would be better off with a new stadium. Maybe he wants a soccer/aussie rules stadium to share in and leave the SACA out in the cold (which won't happen). Maybe it's the Liberal party ties that are stronger here than his AU ties. Either way he is potentially conflicted although he may be speaking completely independently with no personal interest. Maybe!

If it's the same article being referred to, Im pretty sure he makes mention of Adelaide United not having the need for a venue larger than Hindmarsh.

According to 5AA today the Federal Government have just pulled 31million in funding which was to be for a car park at the new Oval complex. Pat Conlon suggests that private industry will make up the 31 million in place of the Federal Government funds, pity they could not do the same for the OBahn extention.

Heard that SJ, personally I think build it now. Run by SACA for 6 months and SANFL for 6 months, no joint membership initially, but incentives built in if you are a member of SACA / Port or SACA / Crows, SACA / SANFL. A lot of sporting clubs around the grounds are managed the same way TTG, Modbury, Salisbury and I am sure a lot more. Works well except for the stuffing up of centre wickets by the footy, but with drop ins, which will happen ala MCG, SACA won't have that problem.

Seems to be the problem here in SA, suggest something, the opposition oposes it, the whingers get on board with their whinging. Get some b.lls Labour, build the bloody thing.

Please scrap the project [-o<

There are much better ways of expensing 1/2 Billion dollars of taxpayers money.

Every week that passes by this development is looking less likley to happen.
Adelaide does not have the funds or population to sustain it unless SANFL gives up some of its asset base to cover the short falls. I cant see that happening as who would go into a 50/50 partnership with their own money and not full control.

Where is the AFL money in this. They want it
They are shelling money galore on Gold Coast & GWS, but can't chip in and help a traditional football state

Of Course they could if they wanted to. But hey it is South Australia not Victoria.
Plus with all the crises in the country at the moment the AO project is dead in the water (or from the water)

I wont believe it's going ahead until they start tearing down the Bradman Stand.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

It was never going to happen - it was a standard ALP election gambit never intended to become real.

According to S Rowe on 5AA last night, the Crows dont want to be involved, they are supposed to want a 40 000 seat stadium that they own themselves.

Rowe went on to say that the plan is for a 40 000 seat stadium in the Inner Suburbs, the stadium to be built with 40 000 seats then within 5 years capacity increased to 50 000 seats and within 20 years for a roof to be put on the stadium and the original design to be so that the roof could be easilly retrofitted. - Rowe would not name his source on the rumour!
