It started in 1994 and until 1999 used the 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5 system which got very complicated after that!

I thought it was later than that 2001-2002...

My records show Essendon beating North in the first round of 2000 finals which must have been a 1 v 4 match up? And Melbourne beating Carlton which I assumed was 2 v 3?

Well wadda you know....2000 1st qaul final 1 v 4 Ess v N Melb Essendon won by 20 goals.....

Surprise Surprise Tassie shoots his mouth off again and not for the first time is wrong.....

Right back in back in my box for me....

PS I Knew Essendon were good in 2000 but I forgot how good.... :D
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

sydney-dog wrote:Dutchy, that is a massive call regarding Laidley coaching for his future next week

is it your opinion he should go if the Kanga's lose next week, or do you actually believe the club would have the courage to make that call

it's a big big call, considering most experts picked the Roo's for the spoon

maybe a bit early and emotional with the comment but I do believe the board isnt 100% behind Laidley and 2 poor finals performances willput some pressure on I believe....Ive never been a Laidley fan, but will support him while he is in charge of my team....he has done a great job this year but the questions has to be is he the man to take us further? forget last year but 2005 we finished 5th and out first week, finish 4th this year and if we go out in straight sets, has to raise questions...

Just watched the press conference on AFL.com.au and he was quite good, he has improved his media presence and gives more to the members/fans than before....if you watch it check out the crack he has at one of Sam Lane's questons about half way through...very funny!

Go the Cats! Anyone here planning on attending the GF? If so how are you going to secure your tix? My interstate membership doesn't cover GF tix so the best bet is for Pahhhrr to get in as I know plenty of swampies who will get me and my daughter tix. Having been to 89, 92, 94 and 95 losses how lucky will she be if she gets a flag at her first AFL GF at the age of 10?

I get a g'teed GF ticket if the Roos make it, one advantage of being a member of a club with a low fan base!

Only thing is we are booked to go to Port Hughes that weekend, wasnt expecting the Roos to be a chance, doubt I will have the issue though sadly...

Dutchy, if the Roo's fail this week and Laidley is not re-appointed, in my view, the new coach would be on an absolute hiding to nothing

why is that? If Laidley is not reappointed then the feeling must be he has some deficiencies in some areas and surely the new coach would be appointed to specifically cover these? I thin there is the base of a very good side for next year and with only one player over 30 and Thommo back

Booked my accom today Fester ... No tickets confirmed yet but am pretty confident I'll get some, particularly if Port make it ... Anyone know whether Category 1 members can get guaranteed tickets if the Power get through?

I got into last years Grand Final without a ticket. I won't say anymore on the grounds I may incriminate myself!

You're a Centrals fan. That's incriminating enough LOL.
