This appointment rivals the Primus one as our worst mistake ever. I can't believe Port would be seduced by his cr*p. I can only hope another AFL club offers him a senior appointment very soon, but that won't ever happen. I can't stand the guy. I was hoping Port might bounce back next year, now I'm extremely pessimistic about our chances.

His record is pretty handy though despite being a knob.

Yes, in the SANFL as head coach. What's his record like as an assistant working under a decent head coach?

Is Ken Hinkley a decent head coach, after this season some may say that's up for debate.

It's an interesting point about Hinkley. Guess the proof will be in the pudding next year. I asked the question if Port miss the 8 in 2016 does he lose his job? Had 2 very strong supporting coaches in Richardson and Walsh his first 2 years.

Not that i watch alot of games but i get the feeling Port are right in the middle of what Hinkley has acheived so far, the firs year they definitely over achieved and then this year horribly under achieved. Personally i would think they probably have the list of 5-7 side.

Hinkleys first year was 2013, Geelong knocked them out in the finals. I think they had a good season, wouldn't say they over achieved, if that's even possible.

Yeah i would have him down as

2013- par to maybe slightly above par
2014- exceptional / over acheived
2015- extremly dissapointing / under achevied

So taking a basket case in 2012 to 2 straight finals series I think indicates he can coach. This year the team may have got ahead of themselves maybe.

Thats why 2016 will tell a big story, if that is all that it was this year it should be easily rectified.

Good news. Would've hated seeing him ending his career somewhere else.

PORT ADELAIDE has restructured its AFL senior coaching panel for the 2016 season following the appointment of Nathan Bassett as an assistant coach on Friday.

Bassett will become the Power's defence coach, while former backs chief Matthew Nicks will take control of the club's forward line.

Garry Hocking moves into the midfield assisting midfield manager Michael Voss after two seasons as the coach of Port Adelaide's SANFL team.

It comes as Port Adelaide confirmed cult hero Chad Cornes as succeeding Hocking as the senior coach of the Magpies.

Port Adelaide AFL senior coaching panel

Senior Coach: Ken Hinkley
Director of Coaching: Shaun Hart
Midfield Manager: Michael Voss
Midfield assistant: Garry Hocking
Forwards assistant coach: Matthew Nicks
Defence assistant coach: Nathan Bassett

Not many of those coaches have been coaching in a successful AFL environment. Missing the 8 seems to follow Voss, while one of the greatest ever players, his coaching CV ain't looking great...
