The AFL certainly don't want AFL games there anymore either
Like it or not I think the development is still full steam ahead. I expect the failed world cup bid will only slow down some of the "bells and whistles" (term by the Sunday Mail editor this morning).
Done properly the AO and associated redevelopments will generate a far better return for the taxpayer per $ spent in the CBD compared to pouring money into the West Lakes stadium.

How is spending $535M to increase the capacity of Adelaide Oval by less than 20,000 a cost effective way of spending taxpayers dollars is beyond me.

Adelaide Oval has always been fail and always will be. And apparently they took it to even new levels on the weekend.

Mr Gerard has suggested that we build another stadium for Football and leave Adelaide Oval for Cricket. He suggests a 6year time frame to build the new stadium and not to rush into it. Whether his remarks carry any weight at all, I am not sure, yet it does suggest that the further proposal to extend Adelaide Oval does not enjoy the support that people think it may have.

Of course he has a right to an opinion, but I do think that his links to the Liberal party should be acknowledged in such articles.
