I think he's referring to the 2003 Pre-Season GF.

Craigs defensive game plan and lack of goal scoring ability up forward will see Adelaide finish outside the 8 in 2008 .

Adelaide should be looking for a new breed of young coach with new ideas , craigs defensive game plan and unwillingness to get involved at trade time will see the crows go no where until he is replaced .

So, what you are saying is that even though in the 3 previous games Adelaide DID score enough goals, we all should focus on the 1 game in which they didn't :?

IMO, its pre-season. Lets wait for the real stuff to begin.

Yeah your right they did throw everything at the saints.

WHAT GAME WERE YOU WATCHING
if they threw everything at the saints Tyson edwards wouldnt have been playing in the back pocket, simon goodwin and andrew mcleod wouldnt have started every Qtr on the bench. and Neil Craig said if it was a real season game he would have put shirley on Gram in the 2nd qtr

It's worrying....
I read that as NC saying that he didn't do the most he could tactically to win.
If that's the case.....

2003 Pre Season Grand Final
Adelaide 2.13.8 (104)
Collingwood 1.9.10 (73)

Telstra Dome infront of 43,571

just need to add 10,571 to that figure unfortunately TB.

would have to be the lowest attended Pre Season Gf in 15-20 years ?????
Centrals 16.11 107 North 5.12 42 the dynasty continues .

Play tight and safe when you are undermanned you are no good and lack ideas.
Experiment because it is pre-season you are a tool.

I think Craig was more upset at the fact that they didnt follow instruction, rather than the actual loss. Both sides didnt throw everything they had at it - St Kilda only really played one of their 'gun' onballers in the middle at a time, and neither side really tagged anyone.

Just as people said we shouldnt get carried away with Adelaide's pre-season wins, surely then we shouldn't read too much into a pre-season loss too ?

As an Adelaide supporter, im optimistic of an OK year, but also know we are vulnerable up forward. From what i have seen of Tippett, he has massive potential. He will have good days and bad days though, as he matures.

I believe Neil Craig was getting annoyed because certain things that he expected to go right in terms of planned structures, discipline and the ebb and flow of the game, went the other way. I don't think he was too concerned about the end result; things like controversial umpiring calls will irritate any coach at any time, and you could see Craig was no exception. Perhaps he genuinely felt that his charges had done the work to get the result, and was frustrated that they kept undoing their good work? Either way, as far as craving the win goes I don't think Craigy was all that bothered.

Anyway I was pleased with what we came away from the game with: the prospect of a young gun forward (Tippett). Such potential. Finally people are seeing what I've been talking about on BigFooty regarding the unsung young brigade at the AFC. Where are the doubters now (though it's only pre-season :D)?!? :P

Did anyone else notice Shirley getting left behind when the ball was moving quickly?

If this bloke is a better 'run-with' option than Van Berlo I dont know what to think.

Let Welsh and Hudson go,keep Shirley?

(I know they play different positions, but hey,2 of the blokes named above could (have) been useful to Adelaide this year)
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Yeah, i did notice that Booney. Im a bit of a Shirley fan, but he did look sluggish.

He still can play a role though, he has been pretty consistant over the last few years and is a reliable stopper.

Shirley and Welsh are at opposite ends of the world as far as work ethic goes.

The thing with Shirley is that he is always playing for his career, IMO. If he has 2-3 bad games in a row, that could be it for him.

Shirley you're not serious? (Can't believe I beat Booney to that one). Yeah he might work hard but he's fairly ordinary Felcher.

I never said he was a gun, or even a reasonable player. I just like the way he goes about things. He's a battler. I would like to transplant his work ethic into a few others.

The only reason Shirley was never traded was because no other club wanted him , his name was dropped to lure other clubs to come to the Crows with offers but no one else was interested .
He has been in the system a long time now and you would think the crows would have unearthed a better young player by now to at least " run with " opposition on ballers .
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .
