In a total of 70% game time out of 200 you gathered this how???

Anyway, Moran is so average, pass.

He was crap at SANFL level also so I'm not fussed

Better than any Westies ruckmen.

Well former Westies ruckman Cameron Wood was just traded for pick 14, not some sh1t 3rd round pick so think again champ...oh and Wood was an original Westies player rather than a cheap Victorian import

Henry Playfair has gone to the Sydney Swans for pick 44. A win for both parties here. H will go to Sydney as a KP backman while Geelong will release one of it's non premiership players. Good luck Henry but not all that sorry to see you go. Now if we can offload Gardiner.......

my point on Wood and Meesen

they both have potential and they both are still unproven and to make any other comparisons at this stage is based on nothing more than gut feel

both players will now get plenty of opportunities, their is now no excuses

I'm still not sure about Cameron Wood being worth pick 14 but time will tell obviously Collingwood rate him highly

Ruckmen are proving to be a big gamble I wonder if history will show that Melbourne are the winners out of that deal getting pick 14.

We'll see in the next year or 2!

not to mention, people are praising the Pies for picking Wood up with Pick 14

I say, at this stge of their careers, both Wood and Meesen are rowing in the same boat,

Both players were drafted in the same year, spent three years at their first club, both players failed to make an impact, both players have plenty to do before they can be considered an AFL footballer

most importantly if Cameron Wood was a certainty to be a top ruckman, why would the lions trade him

I have seen Cameron Wood play a lot of footy, their is no way at present he is worth pick 14, Loins have done extremely well, the Pies have paid a heavy price because they have no ruck stocks
SD,
Collingwood probably weighed up the following-
will there be a ruckman available at pick 14?
would this young ruckman potentially be better than Cameron Wood?

Ruckmen tend to take longer to mature as footballers, & I think the Pies have summed up that they would be better off having Cam, than having pick 14.
We have a good crop of youngsters, I don't think we need to add to our midfield this year.
A ruckman is what we need, so I think they've addressed their short-comings well.
Brisbane have also got what they needed out of the deal, in on-passing pick 14 for Travis Johnstone, who will fill a void in their mid-field.

As per my previous post- are their any ruckmen who'll be available at pick 14, who are potentially better than Wood? Also weighing up development time into this debate?
Collingwood desperately need another ruckman- now.

Punky I understand your point and you're right - players can be more valuable to certain clubs depending on gaps on their list

Agree the Pies need a ruck-man and being a SA boy I wish all Wood all the best, in all seriousness

A big IF, I know (and you could make them for all teams), but should Travis Johnstone have the kind of year so many do when at a new club, and with Bradshaw back in the lineup, Brissy could be a fair handful* next season.

Totally agree, Pies giving up pick 14 is driven by the clubs need to improve their ruck stocks, all I am saying, it is a gamble, as pick 14 is not a true reflection on where Cameron is with his footy at the moment.... it is a gamble

Dutchy

On Moran, my mail is the Crows are looking at Moran as a tall defender who can pitch hit in the ruck...

At times this year the Kanga's did lack height down back, so their may of well been an opportunity to play Moran down back

At 200cm, 100kg's and given his speed and agility, defence could of been a good position for the kid to learn his footy

My question, what's your view, do you see Moran as a ruckman, or do you see it as a missed opportunity that Laidley did not try him down back

wouldnt play him down back SD, mind you he has only played 3 games, but I reckon would get found out, still think he could be a Cox type ruckman....

Why do Brisbane have a void in their midfield? Black, Power, Lappin..

I agree Permstance but the back six looks weak.

Akermanis played more as a HF in his last two years at the lions

The Lions have some many young midfielders that took the next step this year, I am not sure on this selection by the lions
