If Cotchin becomes a Brownlow medalist it will be the end of me, only positive out of this is we don't have to see Stanton getting 30+ ineffective possessions this year :)

While the members have been great and supported the club thru all this, you have to wonder if their patience is being tested and whether this will have long term off field ramifications.

I think they'll struggle to get people on board when it's a second rate side they're fielding. Surely this will send them down with Carlton for some time.

382 new members signed since this morning. I think we will still get around the 50k mark but not the 60-70k we would of hoped for. Will be a fair few years at the bottom but hopefully some decent draft picks and free agents over the next 5-10 years will get us back

I think the member numbers will keep being really good, the crowds might not be. Its going to be a big celebration if Essendon can get a win this year

So according to the finding of CAS and in the statement from ASADA, the players knew more than they let on, and helped cover it all up

In regards to top up players, I think Clint Jones is a good chance. Probably would look at Grimly as well.

Sounds like Gil is of the opinion that Essendon have been punished enough. With the sanctions imposed upon 12 of their current players on top of the $2m fine, extradition from the 2013 finals series and loss of picks in the immediate drafts, I would be surprised if Gil stripped this years picks as well.

That in itself is wrong. Finish last as a result of drug cheating, and pocket pick 1...

Not 100% convinced just yet that they finish dead bottom.

Really its a good chance but heck Carlton are almost just as ordinary.

Carlton got all their number 1 picks on the back of cheating.
The AFL will not punish us further, at the end of the day we still make them too much money for them to cripple us further. The AFL is all about $$ and they admitted in hindsight the Carlton penalty was too harsh.

I don't agree with Carlton getting their #1 picks on the back of their salary cap indiscretions, but that is a different debate entirely.

I agree with your last point, doesn't make it right in my eyes, but we agree to disagree.

Why should the 34 players who are still on AFL lists still get paid by their clubs for the next year? They are convicted cheats and should receive no compensation while doing nothing for 2016. Chris Davies certainly wouldn't confirm they would be paying their 2 on radio tonight.

Carlton had their penalty and the result was we finished in the bottom two for a number of years. History will tell you the number 1 pick doesn't mean you'll end up with the best player

Only 17 still on lists.

Also probably depends on how their contracts are written i guess
