Good news for The Power.
Any reason though the good players get 2 year deals but the average players like Jonas, Lobbe and Hartlett get 5 year deals?

If Pittard signs with North, it wont be the end of the world for Port, in fact I hope he does.

*chance of getting back onto 1st round of draft thtough free agency compensation
*his best is very good, but he is inconsistent and can be very flakey
*frees up some salary cap space - dont want to over-pay for a flanker
*allows us to get more games into Bonner & Houston

Pittard is a confidence player. His rebound is great at times when he is supported well, if you hang him out to dry like he has been in recent times, then well you see what you get. But the bloke always has a crack.

That said if he does leave for that sort of deal you can really only ask me question:

How does Dutchy feel about long term deals lol.

Seriously North are blokes smoking crack? 3m for a half back flanker!
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

At 26, with a 5 year $600k offer on the table I would think that equates to end of 1st round

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

Solid player but imagine what he could do in our environment 8)

$600k will only be $100k over the average AFL wage post the new agreement.

I'll admit I'm not keen on the 5 year deal, prefer maximum 3 years unless you are an A grader, which he isn't.

I know, you could run him into the ground well past his use by date and then ship him off to a nursing home. ;)

No, he's not, but again, if you want to drag an established player from a top 8 side to a bottom 10 side you need to pay overs. ;)

As dutchy said, that's not far off the average wage when the new agreement comes in. So seems reasonable

If it meant Port got into the first round, I'd pack Jasper's bags for him.

Half back flankers are dime a dozen, even more so at Port where for a couple of years it was seemingly the only type of player we drafted. As good a player as he is, and he is very good, he's absolutely expendable.
