the umps didnt help, but the hawks just lost the plot...dropped marks, no talk, no awareness....does an AFL player really need to be run down from behind these days? u12's would get dragged for that crap but an afl player doing it...just criminal!

hawks lost that, more than the scum won it

Umpiring was poor for both sides. Hawthorns skills in the last quarter cost them. Bateman kicked to a Pies player 3 times in a row, Schoenmakers drops a sitter that leads to a ball up from which the winning goal was scored and then Rioli gets run down, not the umps fault there

Totally agree. Umpiring bad both ways. Batemans poor disposal more of a factor. Disgraceful

The umps didn't cost the hawks the game, Schoenmakers did. Looks so far out of his depth and probably should never play another AFL game.

The only decision I didn't agree with was the 50m penalty (the Collingwood player dived). The rest were there unfortunately.

The most blatant free was where Burgoyne was tackled a full 360 and still threw the ball out and was called play on. Sick of the throw being allowed in football

Best side on the night doesn't always win unfortunately. Hawthorn had their chances but couldn't take them. Have they softened Collingwood up enough for the opposition. We find out soon

What an incredible, gut churning game, and I don't follow either team lol .. There have been better games of football, but we all just saw an absolute belter!!

Really feel for the Hawks, they were just so brave and valiant, but in the end I think weary legs, the tide of the game and band-aid personnel caught up with them.

Collingwood were seemingly outplayed for much of the night, however at key moments in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when the Hawks appeared to have the run of play, Collingwood applied a STACK of key smothers that would havegone unnoticed by many, but it was enough to keep them in the game.

Dane Swan carried them tonight in one of the best individual performances Ive seen in ages, and Travis Cloke went from good to great when the game was there to be won.

The Pies had sdo many players that couldn't get into the game for much of it, and not just decent players but blokes like Davis, Maxwell, Shaw, Johnson, Thomas etc - If they're better for that run then Collingwood are every chance next weekend.

Just hope the big one can deliver something like we witnessed tonight!

Looked a fair hold on Gibson in the goalsquare when Davis goaled .. Not that there's much point in highlighting invidual decisions or missed calls - Both teams had them and both teams had their chances to win the game, but only one team took them.

BTW how good were some of the goals in the last quarter - Swan, Buddy and finally Ball, just breath-taking.

Brilliant images of Malthouse at siren time. How good was it to see a coach still showing how emotional it is fir everyone involved despite the game seemingly becomming clinical.

Great game and the best team lost, but Hawks had their chances and only took an inch more defence from the those stoppage goals Collingwood kicked and they would be thru to the GF.

No doubt now that teams have worked out Collingwoods game, last 3 games they havent been impressive at all, all the Cats have to do is get thru tomorrow unscathed and they will win the 2011 flag.
