Just a thought ... did anyone in Queensland actually take any notice, apart from parents, relatives or friends of the players? :-??

dedja it's a good question I would have asked too but here's a post from another forum I use (he is a Queenslander and a Lions fan):

..... the gc boys won!!! was at a bar at around half time in cairns when the coast were well behind. but in that last qtr everyone was yelling .... at the tv, this is in cairns where afl really doesnt mean ..... an absolutley historic day up here. dont think an afl game has been watched so much. there were people everywhere yelling out for the suns. karmichael was an absolute gun recruit, his skills arent talked up but every single person up here loves him! i only got home just then after hours of drinking in the name of the suns, i think the afl promoters should be very happy with themselves if cairns is used as a sample for their impact in the far north.

I have edited out the swearing!

Smart move getting Khunt. I dont think people down south realise his stature in QLD. He is treated like royalty up there and he would attract 10,000 to watch him play tiddlywinks.

Is there anywhere I can watch the players sing the song after the game. Tried googling, looking on youtube and the AFL site and could find nothing.

Charlie Dixon is from Cairns, and was the first picked up by the Suns.

He's been playing in the QAFL for at least the last couple of weeks.
Has kicked a few goals, but they've preferred to pick Sam Day ahead of him.

Considering Sam Day hasn't played a game yet, thats probably saying something.

Nathan Ablett has done his job. Now he's doing what he always does. Gets a few kicks has a few laughs and collects the coin. As much as I regret to say this, he's a true Ablett.

Great sign the young ones can win the close game, we always knew this year was going to be up and down but to win 2 out of our last 3 games is a good effort.

Zac Smith will win a Brownlow one day.

Didn't expect them to have 2 wins on the board at this stage.

Those who picked six wins or so may not be far off ultimately.
