I have always wanted to match wits with the legendary Tom Hafey. If you would like to be in our SuperCoach dreamteam league please PM me (see Hogg Shield thread).

As for Geelong lacking hunger this year I ask you as a multiple premiership coach if winning that first flag in 1967 was enough to quench the thirst of your ferocious Tigers. History suggests that first flag in fact stoked the hunger of a talented group that eventually went on to land three more premierships under your expert guidance. As you say...time will tell.

Thanks REB ,

Have sent you a PM, i believe a board like this would benefit considerably with a football scientist like myself getting involved in such a competition . The only thing that will be missing is my qtr and half time speeches and g up's , the sort of stuff that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and the desire to run through brick walls .

No need to answer your question , you did that yourself . I am a expert multiple premiership coach . The other guy is Mark Thompson . Clubmen like Bull Richardson , Royce Hart , Dick Clay , Freddy Swift etc arent around anymore to build dynasty's like what was last scene at Richmond and Port Adelaide .
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .

Hang on Tommy, I'm confused. I thought Port had won only one premiership.

Alright here goes my "educated" guess

1- Geelong. Great depth to cover injuries
2- Hawthorn. Mark Williams back, takes pressure off Buddy
3- Collingwood. Youngsters look talented
4- Port. Hate em, but they go alright.
5- Doggies. Injury free year will cause teams trouble
6- Sydney. Underrated youngsters will go under the radar.
7- Carlton. Fev in a new mindset, Judd and Stevens to be in top 5 Clearances for league
8- Freo. Finally deliver on promise, Harvey will instill discipline
--------------------------
9- West Coast. Kerr injured, Priddis 1 year wonder.
10- St Kilda. Gehrig & Harvey to breakdown. 1st coach to get sacked this year.
11- Lions. Will upset some teams but wont win away from the Gabba
12- Adelaide. No leg speed, Goodwin & McLeod needed in engine room but will be up forward
13- Tigers. Always disappointing
14- Nth Melbourne. Lack of depth, off field dramas will take its toll.
15- Essendon. Knights 2nd coach sacked, Lloyds hamstring wont hold up.
16- Melbourne. History says 1 good year, 1 bad year but will rewrite itself this year as 2 bad.[/quote]
whats fevs mindset now??????

Even if hes not fit, he will still go ok. Just not as good as at West Coast. Carlton will be spewing that they dont have a decent ruckmen. Good midfield but they are going to have to work real hard around the clearances to be competative. I saw Foley burn out of the middle a few times from some good ruck work.

Considering our three best ruckmen above Cloke are injured....Setanta needs a run as does Stevo. Need Walks & Fish back ASAP as well...

that is certainly quality to come back in to the side

I have seen better defences in the local league

Carlton will have cricket scores kicked against them all year

too many people got to carried away with the Judd factor, $1m per year, that alone will not deliver success

Not this year, not next but a three year project. That is why Judd joined the Blues...
For the people that got carried away with Judd good luck to 'em. I'm glad he's there
but he's just another player who needs to help the list improve...

how can the Blues improve their depth and quality when they have spent so much on one player, this impacts on the flexibility to build a list

I said it when they signed him for that amount, Judd will not win another premiership medal

Well they just resigned Bryce Gibbs for another two years so there's a start...

If you think Swann would sign a bloke and impact on the future then go ahead...

Out of curiosity if say...Collingwood signed him, would you say the same thing ?

Simple SD, you ask Judd to take a pay cut (just like we had to with Kouta?!?!)

Have we learnt nothing as a club? (The answer's no by the way).

If Kruzer and develop in the player is he meant to become (insert music here) then Judd might. They have the youngsters there that have the potential. The saints built there team (although not a premiership team) around draft picks.

IMO, the Blues have numerous #1 picks over the past 3-4 years and will probably end up with early picks again this year

given Judd's HUGE salary this will impact on the club to retain this kids long term as they will demand market value.

Then again, the Blues may find a way, their President is one of the biggest Corporate cheats in our history

Can anyone believe Carlton started favourite in the game tonight after losing 11 straight games!!!

PLus taking in under prepared players and having no rucks and no defence = no joy for Carlton for at least 3 years

whats worse is Richmond wernt that impressive either and wont get out of the bottom 4!

Carlton are playing the "star" card - about as rational as the Crows taking in Wayne Carey a few years ago.
It will make about as much difference too.
