I think its great that the club has changed back to being called North Melbourne rather than just Kangaroos.

Dutchy, give us a spell on the shinboner spirit CRAP.
Where was it in Archers last game at Footy Park ?

The shinboner spirit shone in the 90's and lets ask why ?
- Nothing to do with actually having a good side and being led by one of the greatest players ever in "The Duck". I believe its over rated and the club will rue the day they rejected the AFL's Gold Coast offer.

See North Melbourne have had it approved by the AFL for the round 4 match against Melbourne, which was for Carrara, to be played at the MCG instead.
North's remaining three "home" matches at Carrara in 08 will be v West Coast, v St Kilda and Brisbane Lions.

It is AFL Footy in 2007 mate, not 1955 when a couple of hundred new members made a difference. It might just be the cause of your problems?

In fact its the running of the club over the last 20 years that has the Kangaroos on the precipice

Are they raffling meat trays down there too?

As much as he annoys me, Eddie could give the Roos Board some tips on running the business that is a modern AFL club

That was Carlton's problem too, trying to be a football club and saying **** the AFL.
Man I am glad Pratt & Swann have steered the big old dark Navy Blue bus around.....If that makes Carlton a "marketing franchise", then bring it on...

Funny how Brayshaw has identified better marketing of "the brand North Melbourne Football Club" into the Melbourne market and corporate investments funds as a means to survival....

PS Didn't no "real" clubs had hidden shares owned by an elite few....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Every club forges its own odentity the way it chooses too...

some like to be corporate giants, sometimes before onfield success and have the benefit of huge fan bases...others dont...

Very funny reading this again, esp from the Crows and Port fans whose clubs have now received more handouts than North Melbourne have ever recevied!

A further six clubs - North Melbourne, the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and Port Adelaide - would have their gate-taking tax gradually halved over the corresponding three years.

Carlton, Adelaide, Sydney and the Brisbane Lions would all remain static on a levy of $2 per fan.

The tax is part of a significantly wider push to radically equalise club finances with the AFL increasingly concerned by the multi-million-dollar debts still being carried by five of the above-mentioned clubs, with only Melbourne having drastically reduced its debt through an annual call upon its supporters now in its third year.

Special assistance of $6.8 million in total is being distributed annually to Melbourne, the Bulldogs, North and Port Adelaide but the AFL revealed to its club chief executives last week that it planned to potentially triple its ASD funding under the new broadcasting agreement. It is understood the clubs were told that special assistance, which would be rebranded with a new set of strict conditions, could increase from 2012 to a minimum $16 million and a maximum annual $22 million.

I think Dutchy thinks "special assistance" or "equalisation payment" is not the same as a "handout"

Dutchy, you gonna back up this claim of Crows v NM handouts with some facts and figures?

Note: I haven't researched this myself so I'll take on the chin whatever you come up with
