Patrick Ryder could be brought back to the club where he started his career, with Essendon reportedly interested in securing the out of favour ruckman’s services.
According to The Age, the Bombers have expressed an interest in landing the 31-year-old.
Ryder is out of contract at the end of the season and has been offered a one-year deal from Port Adelaide, but the big man is keen to pen a longer deal.
Throughout the season the Power have promoted Scott Lycett and Pete Ladhams to the number one ruck mantle, with Ryder axed to the SANFL for five weeks in the middle of the year.
Essendon, conversely, has struggled in its ruck department in 2019.
With Tom Bellchambers succumbing to injury, Zac Clarke has been left to shoulder the load, while the uncapped but highly fancied Sam Draper has also sat out the season with an ACL injury.
Ryder left Essendon at the end of 2014 on the back of the supplements scandal that rocked the club and the AFL.

One wouldn't be stupid in chucking some coin on them at season's end for the 2020 flag.

We've smacked GWS and Essendon in the last two weeks and started to hit form at the right time. We've beaten Brisbane, Geelong and Richmond granted they were earlier in the year but lost to West Coast (R11 - 61pts) and Collingwood (R4 - 14pts & R14 - 9pts) but I'd be confident in our current formLightning McQueen wrote:JK wrote:Booney wrote:The Bulldogs have lost to St Kilda, Fremantle, Carlton, Gold Coast and North, could be much higher up the ladder.
