It is in the moment, perhaps.

But this is systematic of the backfire effect, made famous by the Oatmeal:

Hencewhy I use perhaps what one would consider "emotional" language.

Posting an article with facts gets you nowhere. You have to kind of shake people sometimes.

When I first was elevated into middle-management, with 23 people under me, my then manager said "Some people you need to hug, some people you need to kick in the arse, a good motivator knows which person needs which one".

You can't just shake everyone, morell.

I think, in person, when you have a rapport, this is fine in certain circumstances, but isnt the smartest default position

Valid points, all.

I took Jim to be a stout kind of campaigner requiring shaking.

I wouldn't have spoken in the same manner to other posters. If he's upset, then I apologise for my lack of awareness.

Same applies in footy, ie coaching/team-mates, it can be hard to understand one camp when your used to (prefer) the other.

Indeed, my icecream example is valid though.

I'm all for emotional intelligence and leading with kindness for most things, icecream flavours and footy good examples.

Drug laws ain't no joke, though. And I have trouble treading on eggshells given my particular life experiences with them.

So it gets back to a simple solution..... don't touch drugs.

Won't become addicted and the dealers won't have a market.....everyone wins.

I'm nothing but polite and personable. It's so annoying.

Pretty well for me and all of my acquaintances!

Acknowledge that those in the current cycle are most probably lost unless some serious rehabilitation occurs. But eventually if you don't start with the shit you won't be caught in the cycle.

You all drink alcohol though. How's that working out for you?

Well then shut the gate! Heater and his mates are sweet.

No drug problem in society at all.

I drink alcohol because it's legal. I'd hate to think what I might take if drugs were legal...

The question is would you drink alcohol if it was illegal?

I would bet there's people in your circle who are regular drug users and you have no idea they do.

The Fun Police and I were having a discussion over this a couple of weeks ago when the radio suggested that 10% of the Adelaide adult population is an ice user.

I didn't believe it, it's trying to say one in every ten people I know is on it?
