Have just seen the footage & I reckon Jack Watts raked his fingers across Mitchells eyes so a fair response from Mitchell IMO.

IMO its nothing, I believe you are still allowed to bump are you not? You just get into trouble if you bump and collect them high which didn't happen in this case

So an open hand means it can't be a strike, from what I gather. Interesting. I would have thought the old "insufficient force" was in play here. It was one of those weak things you see blokes do, but not a suspension kind of thing. Just wonder whether the MRP have made a bit of a blue in their wording.

Yes it did. It was graded as "low" ( =)) ) impact to the head.
It's comical.

Cyril didn't break a law so the fine was handed out to fill the afl quota?
How do these people validate their decisions?
Oh well no laws were broken but it wasnt a good look. Fine him!

I think it was an open hand, myself. When I first saw it I thought it was a punch, when I saw the closer slowed down version, open hand and didn't really get him.

have to admit it's nice to see Mitchell only slap someone compared to usual knees or other sniping behaviour

You're looking at it all wrong, Hawkins gets a week because he's from Geelong, had he done anything wrong it wouldve been 2 weeks ;)
