Ahh OK, I forgot the game starts 18 minutes into the last quarter, my mistake.

So what exactly is your point, apart from being difficult?

You could have been 10 goals up at half time. You werent.

We could have won it in the last quarter. We didnt.

We both missed many chances when having the run of the play.

If you want to be difficult then both are invalid, as you kick the first of those posters as a goal then everything after that never happened.

My point is that Port were never in that game and it was only blind luck (ie 5 posters) and the players out for the Cats that kept the scores as close as they were.
To bring up an "if we kicked straight we MAY have won the match" is about as relevent as "if Martians landed at Aami Stadium last night and all were super athletes and put turquoise guernseys on we MAY have won the match".
(Actually less relevent when taking into account the other side had 5 posters, ie they'd only have to be 1 metre straighter as opposed to being 10 metres straighter, it's not rocket science)
Perhaps a more relevent point may have been "if we had a decent coach, a decent captain and didnt have so many brain dead supporters we MAY have won the match".
None of it happened, Port are crap and can't even draw the same crowd as North and Central, get over it, the expirement is a failure, can't draw a crowd, lose Grand Finals by record amounts, have a bigger reputation for choking than Glenelg and are a joke, time to shut the blinds and bring in another composite side.
The Crows may be the "pride of South Australia" but the Powder are the "joke of South Australia". Should have played the old circus theme over the loud speakers when they were in full flight at times last night.
Choke-o should be brought before the AFL Commission for bringing the game into disrepute, the Port supporters around me were joking that if the goals were on the wings his game plan might have a chance.
That backwards sideways rubbish is bringing stuff all supporter to the game whilst embarassing himself and his club.
Take a leaf out of Mark Thompsons book who has single handedly brought supporters back to the game with an exciting style of football instead of this flooding rubbish that Port love.
Port are a waste of space and are sending the game backwards in the poorer suburbs of Adelaide.

That's my point Macca.

PS Not to mention the Port supporter morons telling me on the way out that the umpires were the only reason Geelong won that game and the grand final, looks like they have the same education as Choke-o, ie none.

Bit like Geelong a few years back? I remeber how much F*cking around you guys used to do with the football until some genuis actually decided to kick the bloody thing. Watching Geelong through those years was like watching port now. Now look a great team. Should win the flag again this year - If they dont then they have under achieved for the team they have.

Something that gets me is that Geelong supporters really came out of the wood work last season, bar Wedgie and REB. Other than that I hadnt heard from anymore of them. Now we have fester etc on here. Also the that your all so f*cking arrogant at the moment, remember how things were going a few seasons ago, the coach was being looked at the players were unfit and with a super squad you couldnt do shite!!! back to the woodwork - I have never seen some many Geelong supporters, where the F*ck were you wankers when your club needed you through those tough years???? Hey Fester where hell were you??? I know Wedgie and REB were around but that was about it!

Thats it end rant

A quality trait in all sports is showing the opposition respect.Whether you beat them,or they beat you,it is an admirable trait that enhances ones reputation and gives others a feeling of equality when it comes to discussing a topic.

Williams is a Preimership coach, just like Thompson.

Tredrea is a mutiple All-Australian and in the absence of the club captain, led the team to a Premiership.Like Harley, premiership capatains.

I am more than happy to respect Harley and Thompson, every other coach and captain for that matter.

What brain dead fans (which we all agree, every club has) have got to do with a club winning or losing a game is beyond me.

Fester joined the Geelong Cheer Squad in 1982. Fester gets to Kardinia Park at least twice a year. Fester has been a "country member" since 1987 and was a junior member from 1982-1986.
In 1989 Fester was at the Grand Final watching Geelong lose. In 1992, 1994 and 1995 Fester was at the Grand Final watching Geelong lose. And yes in 2007 Fester was at the Grand Final watching Geelong win! Not bad when you consider my passion for my beloved Redlegs is twice my passion for Geelong. Where were you Stan????

I don't know what you have against the Crows Stan, unless you are a Port supporter still resenting NOT getting the first SA based AFL licence.
[Personally, I don't think Port should have ever gotten an AFL licence as a reward for their arrogant treachery to SA football.]

Geez, winners are grinners

Nothing like getting kicked out of the comp as a failed experiment just because you lose in round 1 to the reigning premiers. Methinks more than 1 game's frustrations are coming out in this thread. :D

Booney, maybe us Crows and Power fans need to stick together on SA Footy  :vom:

I'd support that in principle, in fact I have advocated the SA based teams supporting each other in the AFL in the past on this site.

My wife supports the Power because of family connections, and I support them in sympathy except when they play the Crows, and she does the same supporting my team. [I was supporting the Power against Geelong the other night.] I also support them as a second team of SA origin so long as they don't play up the connection to the PA "Maggies" FC too much - my years of supporting Norwood make that intolerable!.

However, the constant anti-Crows pettiness, and the "Cows" designation, get right up my nose at times, and you can only ignore it so many times before the urge to bite back becomes overwhelming.

I'm more the socking than the crying type.
[I was sent to Judo training to learn discipline as a primary school kid after I'd injured another child enough to put him in hospital. "He hit me first" didn't get me off.]

The Cows thing was funny once or twice, but the constant use of the term wears a bit thin, as does the carping at the Crows at every opportunity by some.
I guess it's a matter of respect for each other - I generally don't call people or their teams by derogatory names.
[Not that there is anything wrong with cows. I've met some nice cows, and am rather fond of Jerseys. The intent to be derogatory is what irritates.]

Yes, I guess so. I don't like that either, no matter whom it is aimed at. There is enough nastiness and aggro around without adding more.

I already addressed that issue earlier in the topic mate.

Wedgie wrote:Port Power losing by 9 points has nothing to do with driving people away from the game, playing a crap brand of football more intent on going backwards and sidewiays has everything to do with it, I was just as critical of Geelong about 3 years ago when they did the same.

Also, I don't know one Geelong supporter that only came out of the woodwork last year, I do on the other hand know of a lot of Crows supporters that came out of the woodwork and supported Geelong in the Grand Final last year, not that I blame them, any South Australian with teeth would/should have done the same.

I put up with Port idiots crap for 19 years after 89 although they kicked a lower score against our Premiership side earlier in the century, they told me that that wasnt relevent as it wasn't recent, well now 89 wasn't recent but 07 and 08 sure as hell is so Im going to be dishing it up for another 19 years. Port supporters can rest assured I'll stop the onslaught in 2027.

I can't believe this thread. Surely the important thing is respect for each other, not the footy clubs we support. It up to the footy clubs we support to respect the opposition because if they don't, they get their pants pulled down. Take last year's Grand Final. The public perception was that Williams did not respect Geelong when he did his trash talk thing and I believe he not only lost the grand final, but some hard won respect for his football club. Privately of course he does respect the opposition but the public perception of the Power is (I believe) that they do not show much respect and as such do not earn the respect that they are perhaps entitlted to.

Let me put it this way. I sledge Port and the Crows all the time but back home in Adelaide two of my best mates barrack for those clubs. They know I'm not disrespecting them, but the teams they follow. For years I copped the 'handbaggers' line. Try telling that one to Buddha Hocking or Gary Ablett Snr! But I had the perceptive and cognitive abilities to recognise that when people came out with that line they were sledging Geelong Football Club, and not me. So the term PAPsmears or Cows have gotten stale? Give me a break the Cats have been called handbaggers for decades! If you ark up people are going to use it more LOL.

Now can we all not take ourselves so seriously and just enjoy the football?

regards,

REB

ps - I post on many sites but this site is number one when it comes to respecting each other and the moderators and posters deserve a lot of credit for this. I just reckon everyone is getting a bit too precious.
