Dewy is massively talented, but I reakon he's been lazy by the required standards for close to half of his AFL career

Agreed that it's a big call mate, but if you think about it, whilst being a player of noted ability, it was Jarmans' later years (and deeds throughout them) that got him through to the champion category ... Prior to that the general consensus of opinion was that he was a highly skillful player who went missing a bit too often with question marks over his head in finals.
Dew is not too far off that and you could debate their comparative skill levels (I agree with you btw, but it's not a HUGE gap), but for whatever reason (application, determination, interest etc) he looks unlikely to give himself the chance at finishing in a blaze of glory in the next years unlike Jars.
