POWER board discussion - Round 9 - Port v Melb - 22nd May

Postby GWW » Sun May 16, 2010 8:22 pm

Port will be hoping to get back in the winner's list this Saturday night when they meet Melbourne in Darwin (TIO Stadium).

The Power's record against Melbourne at the MCG is not great, so to be playing in Darwin will help their cause.

The Demons' form the last few weeks hasn't been great, Port should win by about 4 goals.

Really expect to bounce back this week and show we are just ahead of the bottom 6 sides, yet not quite up with the top 6.

Melbourne have spent all their tickets IMO and will struggle from here on in as all young sides would expect to do.

Port by 40+.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Melbourne were a rabble last week against West Coast and if they dish the same stuff up this week, Port will win by 10 goals at least, even if they go missing for a Qtr like they did against Carlton.
Absolutely NO easy games this year at all as most teams this season have seemed to have Rebounded strongly after a poor match or two so Port need to be 100% on the ball this week or their season could easily turn to S**T in the blink of an eye.
Melbourne are very hard to gauge, having played brilliant footy against powerhouse teams in Collingwood & the Western Bulldogs and then surrendering meekly to Kangaroos and West Coast. :? :?
Anyway hoping for a BIG Power win this week as i'm going up for the game. :D

agree with you jim but with melbourne the average age is about 13 years old ;) with saying that the point im making is that at that age being such a young side they tend to get up for big games and just think it will happen against the weaker sides like the roos and eagles if you get what i mean.

Think Lobbe should be in that side. Personally i woulda thought just having him in the side and atleast blooding him would be the way to go, even if only with an eye to the future. Being the pessimist i am i can see Brogan going down with an injury an Lobbe having to come in and be the number 1 ruckman with 2 games experience.

I thought Jay Schulz was going to be a pretty handy pick-up for the Power this year, but after going down to Footy Park last week, I am not so sure now....

He may be 10 years too late in his calling I think.......slow, cumbersome forwards with very little ability for second efforts and a real hard chase, have passed us by. Not quite tall enough to be a big target up front either.

Would like to see some of the younger players getting a chance to grow in Tredder's absence. Either of the Stewarts or Salter could offer more, surely?

Cant see port winning another match this season. They are totally pathetic along with the umpires who are simply out of control. Total F*****G joke they are with their interpretations. After making the journey to Darwin to watch the match, i walked out 1/2 way thru the 2nd qtr as i simply couldn't stomach the CRAP that they were serving up. I NEVER intend to go to another AFL match again bcos off this. I know the players are just as frustrated but it's their job and have to try to ignore it. How Scott McClaren continues to keep his job is simply mystifying to me. Oh thats right, stupid me, Jeff Gieshen thinks he's doing a good job.

Pretty angry at that loss. Where the **** is the effort during the game. If we can motivate ourselves to play damn good footy for half a quarter at the end of the match, why are we so carp for the other three quarters?
Our 5-4 record or whatever it is really masks where our side is. Of our 5 wins weve been beaten in general play for 4 of those games.

Are you serious? You're in Darwin, they come up once a year and you leave half way through the second qtr. Get some nuts.
