Ok, I'm gonna be honest here- Collingwood should wear the chokers tag, as in the 70's it was apt.
The early 80's, I believe they came up against superior sides (correct me if wrong).
The 90's, well they won there first flag (as underdogs ).
In 1995, they travelled to Perth for an unwinnable final- they got within 5pts.
After a period out of finals action, they return, & in 2002, travel to Adelaide coming off a 50pt thumping from the Bulldogs, to play red-hot favourites, Port Power. Collingwood win aginst the odds, Paul Licuria picking up 38 odd touches whilst stopping Josh Francou.
They then beat the Crow's at the G, & won the right to lose to the rampaging Brisbane Lions- albeit by a very honourable 9pts (in terrible conditions)
Next year, a juiced up Brisbane side (thanks to their Medical Staff) thrash a helpless Collingwood- no choke here, the Lions are 3 time Premiers.
In 2007, the Pies travel to Perth & win a blockbuster game in extra time- only to back up to eventual Premiers Geelong, but not before giving them an almighty scare (losing by 7pts).
Last week, the Crows are red-hot favourites & up by 41 pts- yet Collingwood win.
Collingwood are not chokers, & left that tag behind in the 80's- winning the 1990 Premiership was the cure for that disease.
As for current chokers, we have Port Power (early 2000's prior to their Premiership), but should St Kilda miss a GF, that would be be considered a choke.
