Round 9: Adelaide vs Carlton

Postby hearts on fire » Wed May 20, 2009 12:24 pm

After a disappointing game against the Lions, the Crows will put up a much greater fight against the Blues.

Adelaide will be tight and give it their best, but the Blues will just get over the line.

Carlton by 15 points.

In that case I hope the Crows lose, we need a flood of biblical proportions a lot more than we need a Crows win. ;)

Not really, too much rain is bad, floods damages crops, homes and isn't retained.

Will be another tough game for the young crows this week, we have been playing a 1/2 of football and i hope we can put 4 quarters together this weekend! Bock being out again is a huge loss. The only real change i would like to see would be Maric in to lead the ruck and play Tippett and Moran up forward to stretch the carlton defence. Judd always kills us so stopping him is huge but cant see it happening!

I think the Crows will put in a good effort for three quarters and then fall in a heap against a more talented and experienced Carlton. Michael Doughty will break the record for clangers and after each resulting opposition goal. "We need you 19" will flash up on the big screens.

There's no reason why Carlton shouldn't win this one. Better on paper, taking better form into the game, however we haven't beaten Adelaide here since 04. We should win, and win comfortably, however we've lost ones we should win so far. Hopefully we get over the line! Very happy if Shirley doesn't play this week cos that will mean Judd has free reign again.

However, Adelaide normally play well for big games, and no bigger game than the record for games played by a crow. Also, they're due at home too, so I'm undecided on who to pick in footy tips right at the moment.

Crows can win and I will be watching with interest, but for the purpose of my footy tips I will be going with Carlton, Adelaide too erratic at the moment to bank on.

Adelaide desperately needs a home win though, just for the fans if nothing else. If there was ever a game for a young fella to light up a home crowd this is it.

I'd be interested to see van Berlo get the tagging role on Judd.

Just a point of interest - the current top 5 teams are also the 5 teams that the Crows have lost to so far this year:

St Kilda
Geelong
Western Bulldogs
Port Adelaide
Brisbane

Don't really know what this means, just thought I'd point it out.

Maybe it shows that the Crows aren't travelling as bad as we think they are. They have had a very tough draw to start the year.

A win this weekend against 6th placed Carlton would indicate that perhaps they still have a legitimate claim to a top 8 position.

I think it says we arnt a top 5 team at the moment, but in saying that, we arnt playing 4 quarters of footy. If we had put together 4 quarters on a regular basis then i think we would have picked up a couple of those games. In saying that, at the moment we are a 6-12 ranked team IMO.

Theres no reason why the crows cant win this game, the midfield pressure and skill level must be sustained for more then 1/2 if we are going to win.

I cannot believe there not more confidence of the Crows winning...

Carlton cannot play a side that plays "negative" football i.e Adelaide / Sydney. We struggle.

I can see Adelaide winning this, especially if they lock it down.

On a side note, so far Carlton has beaten sides above them i.e Brisbane / Bulldogs but lost to sides
under them. It's a omen.

Crows by 12 points

Good to see the Crows are putting pressure on the SANFL tribunal by naming Shirley.

Riley out, interesting statement there. Has been average, can't even remember him touching the pill last week!

Also glad they've finally named 3 big men in Maric, Tippett and Moran, gives alot more flexibility.

Liking this team, definitely have a shot at it this weekend..... still not going to tip them though.
