Postby rogernumber10 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 6:02 pm

The All Australian selection panel met today to confirm the 40-man squad that is in contention for selection for the 2008 All Australian Team.

Under the format introduced in 2007, the All Australian selectors were asked to nominate the leading players in each section of the field -- forwards, defenders and midfielders / ruckmen -- with the final team of 22 to be named on Monday September 15.

The final team will comprise six of the 12 forwards named in the squad, six of the 12 defenders named in the squad and six of the 16 midfielders / ruckmen named in the squad. The four interchange positions would come from the remaining players not selected in the starting 18, to best fit team balance as if to play a match.

I like Bock's chances of making the cut

That would make 2 rookie-listed SANFL players developed by the Crows to make All-Australian .... if he gets up of course

I also like Motlop's chances - in a year where he earned his own SAFooty thread about how over-rated he is :? .... and continuing in this thread now I look closely. Am I watching different games to everyone else? If 57 goals as a small forward is inconsistent, can I order 2 inconsistent small forwards for the Crows next season please.
In between signatures .....

Bock should make it.

I would love to see Motlop in the team too, he's had a great season and would have to go close! He is far from overrated, absolute gun in my opinion!

As much as i do not like him Daniel Motlop's season has been nothing short of sensational and he deserves his selection not only in the 40 man squad but also in the final team IMHO. 57 Goals from a small forward is an excellent return in anyones language  . Is there anyone else that is a small forward and has had such an impact? Not in my opinion. He has played in an under performing side and he has excelled. Hudghton now that is a shock he has no chance of getting in before Bock IMO.

Why is Brent Harvey in the squad as a forward surely he has spent a majority of his time in the midfield  .

57 goals is a good tally but how many of those goals came against good teams? Hence, no Motlop for AA for mine. Flat track bully.

I thought Luke Power should have been picked.
Probably wouldn't make the 22, but has had a pretty good year.

Medhurst is the only one that should even be considered as being ahead of Motlop the others are not even close this year.

Flat tracker? In a side that struggled all year...

26 goals against the top 8 sides in 12 games.

31 goals against bottom 8 sides in 10 games.
